Kentucky Fried Chickens: Kentucky Fried Chickens

by l_joo

Kentucky Fried Chickens or KFC is very, very, very important to Malaysian. Nowadays every small towns have a KFC or two or even 3. Picture is a small town called Karak in Pahang state within Kuala Lumpur and Kuantan. KFC restaurant is slightly more welcome than McDonald's with more than 500 outlets in this country. Chicken is a bird, is a bird where all religions in Malaysia can eat together, this is the main reason KFC succeed.

Mixed Rice: Mixed Rice Stall

by l_joo

These stalls selling economy rice with self-serving dishes. What you do is, to stand close to the stall, they will give you a plate of plain white rice, and with the rice on hand, you can pick any dishes you like onto your plate. After you have completed your selection of dishes, go to the boss to pay money. That will cost approx. RM4-5 per plate. In Malaysia, this is called Mixed Rice Stall.

Hawkers Paradise

by l_joo

Some said the happiness of living in Malaysia is able to eat anywhere, at roadside or at backstreet, do you agree sir or you tourists? Though this kind of street eating culture facilitates some peoples but actually it broke all the rules of keeping environment clean and also causing traffic jams, plus many other side effects. Some said it was a tradition to eat at roadside, some said it was cheaper especially for people of low income, some just eat and eat. My observation is the surroundings mostly filled up with tons of garbage, insect, cockroaches, ants, rats, stinks, etc, plus bad traffics. But you better don't make too much of comments as it involved traditions and many more aspects.

McDonald's: McDonald's

by l_joo

To show you how important it was McDonald's, even the -M- logo appeared on highway to make sure nobody miss the foods of McDonald's. I haven't count how many McDonald's in Malaysia but I think we have not less than 500 in the whole country. In Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown we have 5 McDonald's restaurants. World's number 1 brandname.

Sticks, fingers & forks

by Robin922

Dining can be a very special treat! The mix of cultures offers may different types of foods!Best of all you don't have to break the bank to enjoy. While many of the food stalls may not look clean, they are relatively safe. Smaller local restaurants, can offer fine casual dinning for a fraction of hotel food costs. One of the unique things I've learned is that most everywhere has silverware if you ask. If you are like me and your sticks crisscross and eating with your fingers on a banana leaf is harder than it looks, you can ask for a fork. One of my favorite foods to grab is Satay! Little pieces of meat on a stick with peanut sauce. Most places will offer chicken or beef, however a Chinese own place will also often offer pork.Local Curry houses are wonderful! Chicken & lamb are the common meats. Much to my surprise the lamb here is better than any I've tasted at home.Chinese restaurants...

Kuala Lumpur - KLCC Suria (Petronas Towers)

by ant1606

A visit to Kuala Lumpur will most likely end up to Petronas Towers. Here is the KLCC Suria shopping mall, which like most malls in the world is not only a place for shopping but also a meeting place and strolling heaven in its air conditioned environment. A food court offers a wide variety of western and Malay, Chinese and Indian delicious dishes. Reasonable prices and very clean premises.

Baoz: Fast Food

by ant1606

If hungry for a bite, a convenient and healthy stop would be at Baoz, a fast food chain we found at a few locations in Kuala Lumpur. Our favorite snack was "pau", a sort of dumpling where the wrapping is similar to bread. Stuffing vary from "halal" meat (no pork) to vegetables in plain or spicy hot varieties.

Island Park KOPI Tiam: Don't Miss the home made noodle

by hannrychanth

It is a comfortable place near to Chong Hwa High School. Open from 8am to 2pm. A decent place to have a cup of coffee or an orange juice. Plenty of food stores here. There are local food, mostly noodle, Indian roti canai to free mee-hoon. I especially like the Remen that which is home made and cook & prepare by this humble uncle Lim.Less than a US dollar you can taste what is US3-5 dollar in Taiwan or Japan remote area far away from town. It comes with variety of serving and they are all deliciuos and healthy.
