The fastest and economical way to arrive Mulu from Miri is by plane. The flight is comfortable and safe. Ticket prices depends the timing that you book. I paid RM84 for air ticket or RM120, inclusive of all taxes. (Apr 2009). Book direct from internet. http://www.maswings.com.my/

This is the main transport along the Melinau river settlements. Most visitor to Clearwater and Wind cave will take one of these. The fare is RM85 for 1-4 passenger or RM20 per passenger for 5-6 passenger.
You can also take one of these boat out from the park for RM250 (Charter) up to 4 person.

The flight from Mulu to Miri takes about 30mins. There are about 3 flights a day, 2 on Fokker 50 with 50 passenger and proper a/c and Twin Otter with 20 seats and "two fan". There is a fare difference as well, RM95 for Fokker 50 and RM78 for Twin Otter.
You will experience the real flying on a twin otter as you can actually see the cockpit.
But the most important thing to do is that, make you sure re-confirm your flight out from Mulu, as there are no computer system, and you know how MAS can screw things up sometimes.
