Take the local bus, painted blue, with the words "Sepilok Batu 14" from the bus station at the Sandakan market on the waterfront. The fare is RM3.50 for the 30 minute journey. The last bus back to Sandakan leaves at 4:30 pm.

Firstly we went from Mt Kinabalu to Poring Hot Springs in a minivan organised by the staff at Mt K headquarters. We stayed at the Springs for one night.
The staff at Poring Hot Springs organised a minivan for 5 people. 3 of us were heading to Sepilok Jungle Resort. 2 were heading back to KK.
The 2 going to KK were dropped at a different bus stop in Ranau. The minivan driver called it the 'coca cola' bus stop.
The 3 of us were dropped off at a local bus stop in Ranau, the town closest to Poring, and the minivan driver told us a bus should come soon. Luckily there was a very friendly Malay with perfect English who told us that the long distance bus (from KK) to SANDAKAN was to come in 10 mins and stops off at Sepilok on the way. It cost RM25, was a/c'd, took 3 hours and was pretty full with tourists. The bus instructor told us when to get off and retrieved our luggage for us. We then phoned Sepilok Jungle Resort and told them where we were. They sent out a courtesy minibus to pick us up from the roundabout where the bus stopped us. A walk from the roundabout to the Resort would have taken an hour along the flat road with luggage.

We went to Sepilok from Kota Kinabalu Park. We made a mistake. It's best to depart for Sepilok from Kinabalu Park with bus. The trip will take you about 3-4 hours. Buses ply through these 2 places quite frequently. Nothing to concern about.
We went back to Kota Kinabalu in a bus from Kinabalu Park, which is about 2 hours from the park. The whole procedures of getting into the airport, checking-in and all takes too much time.
So, I've to repeat myself here. If you're going to Sandakan/Sepilok from Kinabalu Park. Please take the bus. BUT, if you're flying to Sandakan from Kota Kinabalu, the plane will fly over Mt. Kinabalu, you can actually see the top of the mountain from your window. Which is simply wonderful.
Once in Sandakan airport, take the taxi to Sepilok. Which will take you about 30-45 minutes.
