Market district downtown: Bargains for Knockoffs
trvlhke
  • By trvlhke on December 24, 2004
  • Malaysia Page by trvlhke
  • This is a market specializing in knockoff name brand purses, jewelry, and some clothing. Most of the booths have the same things so it's more about what you want to pay and who gives the best price.

Polo shirts, watches, perfume, jewelry, wallets and purses

I'm not a seasoned bargainer so I had coworkers do my haggling. Just have a price in mind and walk away if you need to.

I got some 'Gucci' watches for US$3 and a wallet for about $10. Beware though. It wasn't until I got home that I found out that the Timberland wallet I bought my boyfriend said "Timberlard" on it. You get what you pay for right?

Plaza Pelangi: Most Exciting Shopping Mall
  • By gracekkh2004 on April 1, 2004
  • Malaysia Page by gracekkh2004
  • Johor Bahru's most exciting shopping mall, has a multitude of stores that offer a wide array of value-for-money quality merchandise from handicraft items and souvenirs to large selections of fashion apparel, accessories, and trendy footwear. Beside that the shopping mall has a food court, patisserie, or fast food outlets. The shopping mall is about 10-minute's drive away from the Singapore-Malaysia Causeway is well served by taxis and regular bus services.

Handicraft items, souvenirs, fashion apparel, accessories, footwear and plants.

Too bad we could't buy objects over a certain size to be carried around during the course of our trip. Local crafts include beautiful carvings like this Iban "12 Months" composition we found in Sarawak, about 1 meter long and made of rubberwood.
    Prices are generally affordable.

Central Market, a cultural and shopping center, is the best place to witness Malaysian culture, art and craft.

A variety of goods are sold here, including handicrafts, souvenirs and art, all at reasonable prices. Amid the stalls selling souvenirs are small outlets where Malaysian artists display their works. Visitors may even have their portrait painted or order custom-made crafts.

A favourite way to whiz away an afternoon in Kuala Lumpur is strolling and trolling for bargains, the main shopping hubs are in Bukit Bintang area.

LOT 10 is situated within central Kuala Lumpur’s hottest new shopping and entertainment district, Bintang Walk. Lot 10, which is the conspicuous green giant is linked to SUNGEI WANG PLAZA by an overhead bridge.

A visit to Kuala Lumpur will most likely end up to Petronas Towers. Here is the elegant KLCC Suria multilevel shopping mall, which like most malls in the world is not only a place for shopping but also a meeting place and strolling heaven in its air conditioned environment.

A food court offers a wide variety of western and Malay, Chinese and Indian delicious dishes. Reasonable prices and very clean premises.
