Map of Penang Island by sklc You can find so much to shop in Penang and eat as well! If you're observant, you'll realise that there is a free shuttle bus service which takes you en route through the main spots in town. This little island is simply an experience to remember!
You should look out for local craft like the weaved ware (baskets, mats, hats etc), pottery, cloth (silk and dhurries), pewter (the most famous is Royal Selangor Pewter) and traditional costumes (even for children).
Spend about RM500 and you will have souvenirs and gifts for all your friends and relatives at home as well Leave a Comment Theme: Local CraftDirections: Penang is easy to move around by bus! Certain areas are also just a walking distance from the other. But rent a car if you think you'll be shopping a lot! Parking is cheap on the island.

by martin78 The central market in Kota Bahru is a three storey building which contains fruit market, fish market and a lot of small shops where you can buy everything from sarongs and cloth to medicine and books. There is so much to see !
The fruit market is fantastic, there are so many different sorts of fruit to test. Rambutans, giant grapefruits, melons and many other of which I do not even know the name.
Up to you, but don't forget to bargain for more expensive items Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: central Kota BahruDirections: near central bus station

Bargainers Heaven@petaling street by KissRizz Also known as Chinatown, Petaling Street is one of Kuala Lumpur's most popular tourist destinations. In the evenings, a line of stalls come to live in front of the pre-war shops, offering products of every description, from fake leather goods to the obligatory "Dunhill" watches. The area attracts many locals and visitors in search of bargain items, including inexpensive dresses, shoes, fabrics and souvenirs. It transforms itself into a bustling and lively night market when part of the road is closed to traffic at about 6pm.
This place is the place where I can get alot of cheap things.T-shirts,souvenirs and anything you can get here. You don't have to worry about getting the rain because Chinatown at Petaling street is covered. It is definately at this place where you can bargain and get all the cheap prices things here. Have fun...

Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur by JohnEric1979 The Sunday night market in Kuala Lumpur's chinatown is full of faux and bootlegged stuff that can be haggled for and bought for very cheap.
Faux brand name clothing and accessories, bootlegged CD's and DVD's, etc. are all available for very cheap. It's also a good place to buy mobile phone batteries and chargers.
Haggle and you shouldn't have to pay more than a few USD$ for anything there. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Stalls run through the streets of ChinatownDirections: Go to Chinatown and it's impossible to miss.

Most Chinese medicine shop sells also cigarettes, for healthy purposes as well I guess. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Non-authentic goods in Johor Bahru, Malaysia by vyxxyn It's not a shop but a shopping mall. Kinda nondescript, if you don't know where I mean, get into a cab and any local driver will know where to take you. It's close to the checkpoint. This is the "copy centre" of Malaysia. Not many tourists know about this place as 99% of shoppers there are the Malaysian locals. You can find scores of shops selling bootleg DVDs and games (computer, Gameboy, Xbox and PS2). In addition several shops along the 2nd storey sell high quality designer replicas - bags, apparel, watches, belts, trinkets etc. I am referring to grade As - highest quality. This particular shop pictured specializes in wrist watches. It has non-authentic Patek Philippe, LV etc. Precise automatic movement, water resistance, and look just like the real thing. It has replica designer bags as well, but slightly inferior quality in comparison to other shops because if you look carefully, many pieces are slightly tarnished. Bring along your bargaining skills. This mall sucks in terms of food. Other than KFC there is a Roibo snack bar and little else. Would suggest you have your meal before shopping here, you'll be needing the energy anyway!
Bootlegs, and excellent quality non-authentic designer goods. Please note this building has no name on the exterior (or I must have missed it). It is adjacent to a newer looking high-rise building with a big Parkson Grand logo. When you see that logo, it is not that building, it is the shabby-looking building next to it, main entrance is past the KTV lounge.
Limited to how many goods you can carry! (Or dare to carry without getting caught by customs officers!) Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Holiday Plaza is in Century Garden, JB 80250Directions: Don't know, I took a cab. Short taxi ride from City Square, about RM$5.00 (which is about US$1.50).
