Kuala Lumpur City Center: Shop at the mall

by kyoub

No trip to Kuala Lumpur would be complete without a visit to the KLCC(Kuala Lumpur City Center) Mall. It is next to the Petronas Towers within the golden triangle. There is a nice fountain in front and the mall is 6 storys of assorted shops, restaurants, cafes, entertainment, leisure, home decor, a concert hall, an art gallery and a science discovery centre. .

Local Crafts

by ant1606

Too bad we could't buy objects over a certain size to be carried around during the course of our trip. Local crafts include beautiful carvings like this Iban "12 Months" composition we found in Sarawak, about 1 meter long and made of rubberwood.Prices are generally affordable.

Pasar Malam ( Night Market ): Rural Shopping

by gnh

Itinerant traders carting their goods here and there.Usually comes to a particular site once per week. Selling all sorts of food and household necessities.Very cheap, due to low overheads - they just need a van or a car, sometimes just a motorcycle to do their business. Good for the village folks who save on petrol or bus fare going to the towns for shopping. But very dangerous, as sometimes the shoppers just stray onto the roads, and numerous accidents result - as you can see. Depends on which Pasar Malam you go to.Some are mostly selling foodstuffs, some electrical items, novelties, toys etc.Good for the family outing .......... usually active in the late afternoon and evening. Rm 10 to RM 50

Holiday Plaza (name of mall): Designer brands Grade A goods - Johor Bahru

by vyxxyn

It's not a shop but a shopping mall. Kinda nondescript, if you don't know where I mean, get into a cab and any local driver will know where to take you. It's close to the checkpoint. This is the "copy centre" of Malaysia. Not many tourists know about this place as 99% of shoppers there are the Malaysian locals. You can find scores of shops selling bootleg DVDs and games (computer, Gameboy, Xbox and PS2). In addition several shops along the 2nd storey sell high quality designer replicas - bags, apparel, watches, belts, trinkets etc. I am referring to grade As - highest quality. This particular shop pictured specializes in wrist watches. It has non-authentic Patek Philippe, LV etc. Precise automatic movement, water resistance, and look just like the real thing. It has replica designer bags as well, but slightly inferior quality in comparison to other shops because if you look carefully,...
