Sungai Petani - Cinta Sayang Golf & Country Resort

Just at the northern part of Sungai Petani, about 15 minutes drive from the main trunk road is Cinta Sayang Golf & Country Resort for your golfing delight.

There are also other activities like swimming, archery, squash and line dancing and of course dining.

A new land and water theme park has just opened in December. There are two giant slides but it is hot and good to avoid bad sun burn.

Sungai Petani is a good hour drive from Penang. A limousine taxi from Penang International Airport cost a standard RM90 and 50% surcharge after midnight.

In Malay, "Cinta Sayang" means love and affection. So it is great day for golfing and family and children activities.

Watching football matches at National Stadium!

National Stadium, Bukit Jalil

When you are having your vacation in Kuala Lumpur, take the opportunity to watch some interesting football matches at the National Stadium located at National Sports Complex in Bukit Jalil approximately 20 kilometers south of the capital city of Kuala Lumpur. The National Stadium is home to the national football team. If you are lucky you may watch some international football tournaments held at the stadium occasionally. You may even watch some international friendly matches against the national team at the stadium.

The stadium began construction in 1994 and completed in 1998 at a cost of more than RM500 millions, just in time for Malaysia's hosting of the 16th Commonwealth Games. It was constructed by United Engineers Malaysia Bhd. The stadium was officially opened in 1998. It has a seating capacity for approximately 100,000 spectators, thus making it one of the largest stadiums in the world. It has three spectator tiers and looks very impressive. The stadium occupies a total area of approximately 76,000 square meters of land.

The National Stadium was used for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 16th Commonwealth Games. Malaysia was the first Asian country to host the games where 70 nations with a total of more than 5,000 athletes took part. The stadium was designed to hold a number of events especially track and field and football matches.

wakeboarding/ water skii in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur
stagger profile photo
stagger 2 reviews

IF YOU WAKEBOARD OR WATER SKI & you happen to visit Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, where the weather is perfect for year round water sports activities, then you must make a trip to a place called "THE MINES BEACH RESORT" which is only a 30min drive away from the city centre or 20mins if the traffic is good.

The mines is an abandoned tin mine which over time and plenty of rain water has been turned into a lake that's over 600ft deep in the middle & has a healthy ecosystem with a variety of fish. The 150 hectare lake is used for ONLY 2 purposes. 1) to ferry guests and tourists using a water taxi from the mines shopping mall to the palace of the golden horses & the most important 2) to wakeboard & water ski.

This means the water is pretty calm most of the time.

The boat used is a master craft which has a tower for wakeboarding and a pole for water skiing. it can also be equipped with a boom arm to teach beginners.

The wake coming from the boat is pretty good when filled with a water sack and allows for a generous pop for beginners. pros will have no problems turning tricks here...

For water skiers, a slalom course is also provided & the lake was voted 7th of the top 10 places in a ski magazine.

YOU MUST BOOK YR SESSION IN ADVANCE. YOU CAN CALL A DAY BEFORE IF YOU WANNA BOOK ON WEEKDAYS BUT BOOK 2 DAYS OR MORE IN ADVACNCE FOR WEEKENDS. BOOKINGS ARE DONE BY THE HOUR.

Equipment: WAKEBOARDING - There is a house board available but it's always better if you bring your own board. if you're taking children, you should call and find out if they have the required binding & board sizes beforehand.

WATER SKIING - ski's are provided. but feel free to bring yr own. ski's for children is also available.

life jackets are provided for both sports.

Perhentian Islands - A Wonderful Marine Park

Diving in the Perhentians certainly lived up to our expectations. There is a great variety of sites to visit as well as a good number of dive shops to choose from. We went with Watercolors and had a good experience. Professional PADI shop that has been up and running for awhile. We only met one of the owners, Ankha (forgive me for the spelling) who is a very warm hostess and patient dive master! It is worthwhile diving with them because their accomodation on Perhentian Kecil is a lovely place to hang out and stay after a day of diving.

Equipment: You can rent everything ----- a good deal that gets better with each dive you do with them.

Mounting the horse
3 more images

For the past 2 years, I have been taking riding lessons at the Rider's Lodge. With clean stables and well-groomed horses, I have to say the riders are a pampered lot :)

There is a mounting block for the rider to mount the horse. Then, the trainer will adjust the length of the stir-ups and the stable helper will lead the horse into the paddock. The rider juz concentrate on riding and nothing else...

Equipment: Riding helmets are provided.

For intermediate to advanced riders, a pair of gloves and riding boots will enhance your riding experience.

Shooting Past the Spectators

An annual International Cyclothon , usually spread over a week, covering the whole length ( and breadth ) of West (Peninsular)Malaysia.

Got it's name from Langkawi Island, where it starts and ends usually at Kuala Lumpur . Lately, the event has lost its lustre and sponsors are few. Starting points vary year to year.

Equipment: You don't simply join the Le Tour D'Langkawi unless you're a WORLD-CLASS cyclist .

Perish the thought !

Shelter for the night...

A jungle survival course will really show you what exactly you are capable of, and will also teach you a number of things about the jungle and country you are living in. It will also take out all your inhibitions and make you change how you view your life.

Despite finding it really hard, i felt so glad i did it afterwards, and i felt proud that i could say to everyone back home what i did..... and i would do it again....if given the opportunity :D

Equipment: jungle boots (buy them on route), a change of clothes....(you're only allowed one!!)...a camera with spare bateries!! and ul be given rations by the bandit leader :D
