    Gunung Bunga Buah

by dragontml Written Apr 20, 2004

What a day it was ! A friend whom is preparing for the Mount Kinabalu trip has been doing some hiking with the Malaysian Nature Society.

She asked me to join her for a hike over the weekend.

    I said, why not ?

Got up real early on a Sunday morning and off we went. Met some other hikers at the meeting point at Genting Sempah and just a short drive away from the gateway to Gunung Bunga Buah. From here, it was a good one hour walk to the starting point of the jungle. Ups and down and it's was a single file track. Becarefull what you whole on too ! Nearly had my left hand with full of thorns ! We had breaks in-between and it's just trees all around.

Then the sky above started to ' sing ' ! I was not prepared for the rain as I had left home without a raincoat but with just a hat. We reached to a spot called the False Peak and decided to not to continue walking further as the rain was getting much heavier and it would surely be more difficuly to walk. Some other walked on but the both of us decided not to continue as I was already in pain ! We waited and tried to shade ourselves with a small umbrella my friend had. Not very good. Still got wet !

Slowly and carefully, we made our way back. With the rain and walking sometimes in mud - leaches did come cross my mind ! Thank goodness ! None were found on me ! Some other hikers had one or two !

It sure was a day with an adventure. I know now, that I really need to get in shape if I ever do consider hiking up Mount KK !

    Equipment: Raincoat
A change of fresh clean clothes
    Hat / Umbrella
    Walking stick
    Proper walking shoes
Remember to place all important items in plastic bags in the event that it rains !

    Hanging out!!!

This is a typical scene for every live aboard dive trip that we had. Beers, cig & some grass are just some of the pastime & naughty thing that we do when we’re few nautical miles from all authorities.

This picture is to remember my late dive instructor (1st from the left) whom was killed in his biking hobby.

4-Wheeling is getting more popular among the yuppies. Seem like every family own a 4WD.

Tracks with various difficult levels found throughout the country sides.

Equipment: Winches & Mud tires are "must have" for tough tracks crossing national parks & logging tracks. Other essential such as Air-Locker, Turbo-charging, snorkels, good suspensions will depend very much on disposable income & seriousness towards this sport.

Consult you tour leader for all the essentials.

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Malaysia is one of the sports destinations in the world today !
    La Tour de Langkawi,
    Formula One Grand Prix,
    Sea Games,
    Golf Tournaments,
    Badminton Tournaments,
    Commonwealth Games,
A lot to mention here but I know some people might have known Malaysia from the sports events that Malaysia has held in the past.

  • Sailing and jetskiing

by flydoll Written Sep 2, 2002

Malacca is a great place to sail because of the buffers and had wonderful space for jet-skiing.

Equipment: If you sail along the West Coast of Malaysia - you can go along the whole coast or start from Singapore and work up to Thailand! Or you can rent the boats in Singapore.

This is what we do when we have few hours between studies or over the weekend. We will ride to nearby dams, beaches and hills to restore our beautiful minds.

Having an ATV in Malaysia can be quite fun. Opportunities to play on beaches & bushes are abundant.

Just observe some safety measure when you're doing ATV.
