Gunung Tahan

by ivyngiam

(2187m asl - highest in Peninsula Msia)A good mix of terrains...uphill, downhill, river-crossing, scrambling...It was my first "long" trek. If not for the helpfulness of the participants, the trip would not have been so fun & memorable. I fell in love with trekking after this trip & I missed the forest so much after the 1 week trek. This trek held many fond memories for me & shall remain the most treasured one. Pack light..i carried a weight of 13kg (i'm 1.62m tall & 49kg).

Mount Kinabalu

by ivyngiam

(4102m asl)Tho' a much-climbed mountain but do not underestimate it if it's your first attempt to an altitude 3,000 metres above sea level. Go slow & take lotsa water. One of our friends got slight hypothermia when we reached Laban Rata Guesthouse. She started fast & we had walked in a heavy downpour for the final 2 hours leading to the guesthouse.Be sure to know how to "treat" common mountain sicknesses before u hit KK.Take the longer but more scenic Mersilau trail. We chose this by accident but enjoyed it thoroughly. Apply layering theory for your clothing ie.base layer = thermal underwear2nd layer = fleece3rd layer = rain or windproof outer jacket

Berkelah Waterfall Trek

by ivyngiam

Recommended for families. Short walk to the campsite after the lorry ride. You'll enjoy it if you are a waterfall-person! Campgear for 2 days 1 nite. However a daypack with water, food & first aid will suffice for the hike to waterfall

Belumut/Lambak Trek

by ivyngiam

Good weekend hikes. Both hills are in Johor..very near Singapore. Belumut has gradual slopes but longer - 1010m asl. Lambak is shorter but steeper - 510m asl. A daypack with lunch, water & necc. first aid will do.

Coral Sky Divers is a registered PADI Resort (R6237), meaning that we adhere to PADI's high standards of safety and education. When you enter the Dive Center you'll immediately notice the friendly atmosphere. The staff is well trained, experienced and highly professional, as well as very friendly and great fun to be with!

Gunung Bunga Buah

by dragontml

What a day it was ! A friend whom is preparing for the Mount Kinabalu trip has been doing some hiking with the Malaysian Nature Society. She asked me to join her for a hike over the weekend. I said, why not ? Got up real early on a Sunday morning and off we went. Met some other hikers at the meeting point at Genting Sempah and just a short drive away from the gateway to Gunung Bunga Buah. From here, it was a good one hour walk to the starting point of the jungle. Ups and down and it's was a single file track. Becarefull what you whole on too ! Nearly had my left hand with full of thorns ! We had breaks in-between and it's just trees all around. Then the sky above started to ' sing ' ! I was not prepared for the rain as I had left home without a raincoat but with just a hat. We reached to a spot called the False Peak and decided to not to continue walking further as the rain was getting...

Hanging out!!!

by muddybok

This is a typical scene for every live aboard dive trip that we had. Beers, cig & some grass are just some of the pastime & naughty thing that we do when we’re few nautical miles from all authorities. This picture is to remember my late dive instructor (1st from the left) whom was killed in his biking hobby.

4x4 Rain Forest Challenge

by muddybok

If you are happen to own or rent a mean, off-road worthy 4WD machine during your stay in Malaysia. You will find Malaysia a 4-wheeling heaven. Some world toughest treks such as Jeli-Cameron, Bekok-Kg. Peta trails are capable to kill any stock 4WD machine. These tough trails that pass through national parks are not for the meek, you've been warned!! - Off-road worthy 4WD (no stock machine pls!!)- Winches (a must)- Hoe & other offroad preparation- Mud Tires- Good suspension system- Turbo Charged (preferred)- Snookle (Optional)- Air Locker (plus point)

4-Wheeling

by muddybok

4-Wheeling is getting more popular among the yuppies. Seem like every family own a 4WD.Tracks with various difficult levels found throughout the country sides. Winches & Mud tires are "must have" for tough tracks crossing national parks & logging tracks. Other essential such as Air-Locker, Turbo-charging, snorkels, good suspensions will depend very much on disposable income & seriousness towards this sport. Consult you tour leader for all the essentials.
