At the time of writing (december 2010) there are no train services from Beaufort as the rail line is under reconstruction.
The train services should according to the locals resume some time in 2011, but i am not sure what month it will be.

Beaufort is well connected with bus to the neighbouring towns as it is located on the highway between Brunei and Kota Kinabalu.
There is a small bus station there but you are actually better off just going out to the bus stop at the highway and wait till a bus comes by and then flag it down as the long distance busses often don´t stop at the little local bu sstation.
If you are going to or coming from Kota Kinabaly then it´s around 2 hours to get there by bus.

To go to the starting point for white water rafting, we need to board the train in Beaufort. The train is a super old train in sabah, with no airconditioned and only a thin cushioned seat.
The train departs at 10am but it depends on the driver's mood.. we wait for 15 minutes more for the train to moved.
Prepare for a hot and stuffy journey. =)
For white water rafting, the train will stop at Rayoh station and all luggage / belogings should be left in the room prepared. Nothing should be with you except your sandals and specs. Then board the train again to go to the starting point. The Rayoh Station is also the ending point of your rafting where you get all your stuff back.

We stopped at Beaufort train station because we were needed to take a train from Beaufort to the starting point of white water rafting.
We came by a van. It took around 2 hours to reach Beaufort from Kota Kinabalu.
