During the islamic celebration of Eid Al-Adha I stayed in Kampung Pimping. It was a great experience to be a part of this tradition that is called Hari Raya Haji in Malaysia. Early in the morning an animal is slaughtered. This can be a goat, a cow or even a buffalo. In my case a cow was the unlucky one.
After the slaughtering a lot of the meat is given away to the poor and the rest is kept to have a celebration-meal. It's a strange idea to know that the meat you have on your plate has been on the cow not more then an hour earlier, but at least you know it's fresh.
Of course you have to dress up nicely, wearing traditional Malay clothes: Baju Kurung for the women and Baju Melayu for the men.

During my stays in Kampung Pimping I was lucky to experience a mini-concert with traditional instruments. While drinking something, the instruments were brought in spontaneously and in a matter of a minute the private concert was started.
Using a very special traditional instrument called "Kulintangan" together with a drum and a gong, the music really sounded nice. A kulintangan is an instrument made of wood, with cupper gong on with that is played like a xylophone. I didn't start this kulintangan and only stuck to the drum.
