in front of shenanigans by hez28 Most tourists are dissapointed with the ultra pricey drinks in this pub - compared to other pubs. This is probably because Shenanigans is a hotel pub (owned by Hyatt Regency) so therefore their drink can cost you a bomb. My advice: across Shenanigans, there's a semi-outdoor pub called Upper Star that sells way cheaper drinks. So i suggest you drink there first before entering Shenanigans. =) hope this helps.
I've noticed that apparently there's no dress code for tourists. They can get away with anything! Leave a Comment Theme: Live MusicAddress: Shenanigans, Hyatt Regency.

Not the circus by Wild_Orchid Opposite the Promenade Hotel is a short stretch of the KK waterfront that becomes a hub of activity from dusk onwards. It is a popular meeting place for youngsters to hang out with their friends and where office workers converge for a beer after work. For tourists, it is the place to relax while watching the sun going down and eyeing the pretty ladies that may stroll by. With a good view of the Tunku Abdul Rahman islands & ships in a distance, it is certainly a very relaxing spot. If you want to know where to find the pretty ladies, then continue to read on...it's somewhere in my tips below. What a Beautiful woooorld, Oh Yeahhhhhhh by Wild_Orchid, 1 more photos Go to the KK waterfront at around 5.30-6.00 pm and you shall be amazed by the brilliant sunset with many hues of gold, bronze and vermillion. With the salty sea breeze blowing through your hair, you can't help but feel relaxed. Do be aware that the sun sets very quickly in places near the Equator and so, in a matter of minutes, the whole show will be over. The sunrise is equally special, and the sun rises rather early, at around 6.00-6,30 am. If you are an early bird, you may just catch the pretty KK sunrise.
No special dress code, but if you forget your camera, or your memory card is full, you'll surely kick yourself! LOL Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and Drinking

The first night when we were looking for nightlife, we met 2 policemen. It was at night around 10 something near 11pm. We asked them for any interesting nightlife to go in KK! Haha, and they pointed us to Sugar Bun, a life band performing there until 11pm and the opening hours is until 2am. Beer is quite cheap here. A 4 cans carlsberg/ heineken for RM15.

... boardwalk, down by the sea by Wild_Orchid After a spot of sun watching, feel peckish or dry? No worries - there are a few open-air pubs along this stretch of the waterfront that serve snacks or you may just continue watching the sun set with a glass of wine or two in hand. The tables outside offer the best view of the sunset and a good feel of the sea breeze. By 7.00pm, these tables were mostly taken so it is best not to be late.
Unless you're trying to impress your date, casual wear (jeans, t-shirt or office attire) is fine because the style and mood is very casual and relaxed at the KK waterfront. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and DrinkingAddress: KK waterfront

I don't have a photo of this place but its situated right at the place called the WATERFRONT. Most people can direct you to the place (its also adjacent to another landmark ie the Centerpoint - a shopping center). It also has the view of the ocean (and the islands but what are you going to see at 9pm at night?) For the music lover - there is live music by 9pm and the place is quite cozy to say the least. For the beer lover - at happy hour (before 9pm) prices, a bucket of 4 bottles of tiger bear is RM20 and the rest, well, the drinks are cheap before happy hour ends. There are 2 super size tv screens to keep you entertained while you relax and you can even elect to sit on the "patio" overlooking the sea. After a day of sightseeing, White Water Rafting and Exploring Kota Kinabalu, this is a place to relax
Cool and comfortable. Leave a Comment Theme: Live MusicAddress: At the WaterFrontDirections: At the back of Centerpoint and near to the Portview seafood restaurant.

Bon-fire by Wild_Orchid Our group were treated to a beachside bonfire at Shangrila Tg Aru Resort's small strip of beach. The tour company organised it for us. Dancing, singing and relaxing with some beers and red wine...what a great way to enjoy the night. Some of the group stayed up late and into the early morning to watch the sunrise (...well, that's what they said they did...do you believe them?) Drinks anyone? by Wild_Orchid If you want a break from the casual open-air pubs, the air-conditioned Beach Club- which is also located along the waterfront - provides an alternative. The Beach Club is popular and gets busy at night, but is not to be compared with the really "hot" Beach Club on Jalan P Ramlee in KL. In fact, I don't believe they are related at all...except that they go by the same name. I've not actually been inside, but my colleagues went there at about 10 pm and told me that they had a good time. I noticed also that lots of office workers & visitors to KK also hang out here in the evenings to have a smoke & relax over some drinks. For those in search of pretty air-stewardesses and handsome (?) pilots, do check out an old favourite haunt: the Hyatt's Irish Pub. The story goes that all the airline crew hang out here because they stay at this hotel when over-nighting at Kota Kinabalu before flying off the next morning. Well, what are you waiting for-check it out and report back to Aunty Agony who is waiting for a report! LOL
Casual will do fine, unless you want to impress the air-stewardesses or their mothers. : ) Leave a Comment Theme: NightclubAddress: Along the KK waterfront

A new island bar outside K Box on the Waterfront behind BED. Delicious alfresco BBQ food cooked in front of you. An excellent place to view the sunset, whist sipping a cocktail, beer or fruit smoothie, friendly english speaking staff provide free information on what to do and where to go in KK to make the most of your holiday. when I was there there were special offers on Beer, buy two and get one free, or free beer with every meal, I had a Ribeye steak which was one of best I have ever tasted!

Around the square they have a few outlets such as Sugar Bun, BB Cafe and Reef. More teenagers arouns this area with a large screen for football.
