Taxi in Sabah is not run by meter. The taxi from the airport to KK town cost Rm13.6 per car. You can buy the ticket from the counter just outside the airport. The Rm13.6 taxi is the kind- waja in white. You have to bargain the price for the normal red color taxi. The normal price for such distance cost RM13. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

Best option between KK and Ranau (or Mt Kinabalu) by travelpug If you are going to Mt. Kinabalu, take the UNSER minivan (to Ranau) from the bus station at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman (near Merdeka Field). It cost RM15 (same as the non-aircond minivan) and it only takes 7 passengers. It is the BEST option available. The van will leave when it is full. The mini bus leaves at 8am. The other minivan (white color) carries 11 or 12 passengers and old. All cost RM15. Coming back from Kinabalu Park, you can call them and ask to reserve seats for you. You can get on the van on the bus stop just outside the park. There is a van that leaves Ranau at 3:30pm arriving at Park Headquarters at about 4pm. Contact: Zain (+6016 8800410) Leave a Comment Theme: BusPhone: 6016 8800410 (Encik Zain)

mini bus by travelpug Mini bus like this can be found around the city. It's old, but economical. It gets you from one destination to the next. Bus No. 16A takes you from the city to KK Airport Terminal 2. Cost only RM1 per person. What a steal! Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

ranau bus terminal by yuet29 'Bus' I mentioned is actually a van. If you are in a group, charter a van will be easier for you to go back to KK. The journey is around 3 hours, so to be comfortable, dont over-packed. For a van with 5-6 people, it charges rm28 per person; for more than 8 people, it charges rm20 per person. However, if you are alone, dont worry, there ia other alternative for you. Wait for a van to Ranau in Poring Hotspring. It cost you rm5 per person. There is no specific time that the van will depart until there are enough customer in the van. After reaching Ranau, at Ranau bus terminal( or rather van terminal), take the van to KK. The journey costs you rm10. There are van every 1/2 hour from Ranau to KK. The van will stop you at KK long distance bus terminal. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

by stevemt A cheap and easy way of getting round is the frequent mini bus service. The ride is cheap enough for me it was RM1 per ride. It is frequent. The locals use these a lot and its a good way to see some of the local neighbourhood. Theme: Bus

The local & regional bus terminal s right in the city in fornt of the Court House. In this station, there is a map (see next pic) which shows the transport network which is very useful. The long-distance air con is one main street behind. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

To go to the nearby islands (Manukan, Sapi, Manatik, etc.), you can take a speed boat from the local pier or near two seaside hotels. If you take a boat at the local pier next to the Marine police station on the north end of town, the boat rate to Manukan or Sapi is only RM$17. However, the departure times are not scheduled so it may take some time for the boat to leave as they try to fill it up with at least 8 people. You can also take scheduled boats off the marinas from Sutera Harbor Hotel (RM$35 - operated by SeaQuest) or Shangri-la Tangjung Aru Resort (RM$40 - operated by Beach Bums) on the south side of town closer to the airport. These prices are obviously more expensive than the local pier, but the hourly scheduled departure times will allow you to plan your day better. Theme: Ship/Boat

This is Asia’s pioneer cruise line. Star Cruises berth at cities like Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, Mumbai, Kaohsiung and even to Santorini, Istanbul, and Naples in the Mediterranean. During my visit, I first went on Starship Virgo, which had 12 decks! She was a wonderful ship..not forgetting LUXURIOUS! Then I went on Starship Gemini; which was smaller in size but the luxury still applied! These ships have indoor and outdoor swimming pools, jacuzzi, restaurants and cafes, karaoke bar, gym, games room, a little casino, a ‘mahjong’ room, shops, beauty salon, library, etc etc. Although frankly, I’m not really a fan of these large, expensivo fleets. These ships are perfect for those who do not know what to do with their money :) and are only interested in short day-city sightseeing tours. For more info on the ships, check out their website.
