I dived with Sipadan Scuba, a PADI 5 star dive shop and National Geographic dive centre. It is located in Semporna and the dive master and instructors are professional. They have 2 cavern instructors (I think out of 3 in Sabah) who can bring divers to go in turtle caves. Without licenced cavern instructor, divers should not go in. Of course diving is about safety. If you sneak in, you take your own risk. After all, it is your own life!

Sipadan is well known for its great diving and there are quite a few dive companies to choose from.
I went with Dive Junkie. They have very good equipment for rent and knowlegable friendly staff. Seemed like all their dive masters were Westerners which may help raise the standards over some of the other local dive companies.
They also had a nice and very clean backpackers hotel with cheap A/C dorms, singles, doubles with shared bath.
They are planning to open a bar as well in the near future.

Sipadan is one of the best island in the world for underwater environment ! For this reason i reccomend to do everything is possible underwater: snorkelling and diving.
Snorkelling is important to visit the underwater world with calm, without time limit. In this way you can decide how long stay in one reef spot....and admire the underwater world !
Diving because sharks, nudibranchs, hammerhead sharks...and other tropical fishes are visible only under 7-8 metres!
If you sleep in Semporna for more informations contact Suba Junkie.

Ifo you go to Pulau Sipadan you shouldn't come back to home without a pitcure with a turtle.
In fact Sipadan island is the best place in the world to swim with plenty of turtles!
During my snorkelling tour i saw turtles that slept, breathed on surface, scratched on a reef or striped off seawed. Really funny !
So you can't forget to get a nice postcard with a turtle !

Complementing diving, underwater photography is the next best activity to be carried out here in Sipadan. With a generally good visibilty on an avarage diving day, surely with the appropriate equipment, you can be in the run for Photo of the Year, or at least a decent photo album for the peers to admire! =)

Well, what more should there be recommended?? Diving enthusiasts flock here for just one simple reason: to dive! ;)
Sipadan, one of the world's top diving sites, offers a generally good visibility, an astounding quantity and variety of marine life! On an average diving day, it is claimed that you would expect to see at least 50 green turtles (i only managed to caught sight of not more than 10 though), a dozen sharks, large schools of Barracudas (saw a few schools of Barracudas, with one school in a classical tornado formation - breathtakingly awesome! That was the highest point of my trip), Jacks, Fusaliers and Batfish.
The famed dive sites of Pulau Sipadan are: The Drop-Off, Coral Gardens, White-Tip Avenue, Barracuda Point, South Point, Staghorn Crest, Hanging Gardens.

Scuba diving, what else??! Sipadan is Malaysia's top dive destination. Anyone who calls themselves a diver must visit Sipadan. Recommended for Advanced Certified divers to get the most out of your visit here.
Turtles are a daily occurance here, so much so you can suffer from turtle fatigue :) If sharks is your thing, this is where you will find the reef sharks just chilling on the sands or circling above you. Throw in schools of jackfish, barracudas and humphead parrotfist, you're in for a great dive adventure.
Will definitely be going back again and again to fill my dive addiction.
Back on land, there's always the great sunset and walks on the wooden walkways taking in the sea breeze with a drink in your hand and great company.
What more can a girl ask for!

We were thrilled to see a local conservation project release sea turtle hatchlings twice during our stay! They are too cute for words (see pic!). Ask your lodge to find out the next day they'll be doing it (generally they release at 5:00pm by the Drop-Off pier).
