For those of you who love seafood but have apartner who doesn't. This is the place for you. Aswell as serving swimmingly fresh seafood cooked to your liking they also cater for those that do not like seafood by having a traditional asian menu also. Be aware that the serves are large and a small serve would generally serve 2 people.
Favorite Dish: We had the whole snapper, doz prawns , sizzling steak, med fried rice, drinks, fruit and it only cost about $40 aud. Needless to say we were very full and very satisfied. The food was exceptional. The service was friendly, attentive and prompt. We even had extra attention from the maitre 'd. This is a big bustling restaurant with an " outdoor feel" eating area as well as an airconditioned room.
The pizza is wonderful here so if you are in need of a pizza fix this is the place to be. Very good pizza and pasta. The restaurant offers good value meals with good prompt, friendly service. The restaurant is also very clean. I loved the added touch of playing italian music in the background and the waiters speaking a little italian. A good friendly crew who made you feel welcomed and remembered us when we went back a few days later.
Favorite Dish: The past vegeteriana was superb, very fresh and tasty. Hubby had the seafood soup with a serve of pasta and enjoyed that very much. The pizzas were very nice too. Top marks to their tira mi su also.
A must try for those who are missing the good old aussie barbie with a difference. You chose from a selection of meats and seafood and it is cooked for you or you can cook it yourself. It is served to you in a romantic setting on the beach, the meal is accompanied by salad and vegetables, fruit is served for desert. The staff are very friendly and accomodating.
Favorite Dish: Everything that we sampled was so beautifully cooked, succulent and tender. No matter what you choose Iam sure that you can not go wrong. The price was very very reasonable. Excellent value for money. Two of us had the barbecue and my son had pasta and the meal only cost about $40 AUD including drinks.
After eating the same food for 5 days (and the food not being that great) this restaurant was fantastic. Sitting here in Sandakan was like sitting in Raffles in Singapore. We were very tempted to change our flights to a later one just to be able to soak up the ambience and culture of this place. The restaurant has peacocks roaming the grounds and you are able to partake in a game of croquet if you are so inclined. Unsure about the cost as it was paid for in the price of my tour
Favorite Dish: Caesar Salad
Roast beef, with gravy, mashed potato, carrots, buk choy and cauliflower.
Home made ice cream
This is an open air type restaurant (read no walls). At the end of the restaurant there is up to 30 tanks of varying seafood varieties to choose from. All you do is pick what you want, tell the staff how you want it cooked and wait for it to be brought to the table.
Favorite Dish: I had Prawns and Scollops. The prawns were done in a Soy Sauce and Scallops in a ginger sauce. Amazing both in taste and value. There were 2 off us and for 1/2 kilo of scallops and 1/2 kilo prawns and 2 beers and rice it came to RM97 which is equivalent to approx $38 AUD
Eco Fish is a fast food chain in Sabah. Eco Fish outlets can be found in various places in Sabah. They serve all kinda of local fast food, from fried fish, fired chickens, coconut drinks, etc etc.
Favorite Dish: The Eco Fish of course.
Rows of food stalls for you to choose from. I mean, food stalls selling fresh BBQ seafood like fishes and squids. Just walk to any of the stalls, pick the seafood you want, dip it in sambal chilli sauce and savour on the delicious seafood.
Favorite Dish: BBQ Squids
Fresh vegetables served with rice are good here. Stay away from things like italian spaghetti though - its after all not Italy.
Favorite Dish: Nasi goreng Lugawi prices at RM12/plate comes with fried ricem a sunny side up, a chicken wing and some salad.
Surprisingly I found that the food in Kota Kinabalu is very cheap compared to my hometown. Even in hotel..its very cheap. We dont really go out for lunch or dinner because we spent most of the time sightseeing.
