A trek to Mount Kota Kinabalu

by bkarjee

I did my KK trip last year in the month of June. Its best to proceed to the base of Mt KK one day in advance. So if you want to start your trek on tuesday, better arrive at the base of Mt KK on monday evening. There are plenty of hotels available around that area. Alternatively, you may stay in KK town and start for the registration office on tuesday, early morning, but that may be a bit tiresome. Minibuses are available in KK town that can take you to the registration office at the base of Mt KK. You need to book them in advance. We went a day earlier and stayed in Rose cabin (near the base of Mt KK). On tuesday morning, proceed to the registration office. Try to be there early morning-arounf 08:00 a.m. It takes more than 30 minutes for the registration process. You will find that there are numerous trekkers waiting for registration. You will find numerous porters and guides near the...

Rafting is a must

by denna

There are 2 places where you can go for rafting. one is in kiulu, suitable for beginner and the one one is in sg.padas, this is for those who are confortable with stage 2-4. it can get rough when it rains the night before and there is where the fun is. wear a comfortable cloths like T-shirt and bermuda as the journey is quite long. it's a whole day trip and you will probably only reach kk around 8pm at nite.it's a road and train trip. so be prepared. none..all will be prepared

Horse Riding at sunset

by Firestar24

This is only included as a sport if you can actually ride a horse I found! I'm useless in control of an animal and my horse refused to move for most of our trek!I love being on horseback and one day I promise to learn to ride - Watch out Zara Phillips! We took a lovely trek across the beach at the Rasa Ria at sunset. It cost very little and we found it really very soothing.

hi! this is my 3rd times climbing the Mount Kinabalu on 31 May 2005. why it is special to me? Because i'm not purposely want to climb up the summit this time! (i didn't train myself well so better don't take the risk!=) ) of course my certificate is Grey colour. those who has reach the summit will get a beautiful and colourful certificate! 500ml mineral water bottle, rain & wind coat, all cloth pack into plastic bag

Climb Mount Kinabalu

by Firestar24

This is terrible.... I'm advising everyone who goes to Sabah to climb Mount Kinabalu precisely because Jonathan and I didn't get to it! And I've been regretting it since!!So, please if you get the chance to go and do this - THEN GO AND DO IT! I wish I had! This is the nearest we got - the route map at the bottom :(

The Mount Kinabalu is the higest mountain in South East Asia and just by climbing it and reaching the higest peak (Low's Peak) will give you a great sense of satisfaction. The scenery along the way as well as at the Summit is definitely worth a while.Note : You need a bit of fitness to conquer Mount Kinabalu. Hiking / Climbing Gear
