  • The hostels that are part of the national aprk are now charging 46 MYR per night per person for a hostel bed.

    Get the bus to drop you are the entrance to the national park then walk down the road - you will find a couple of places within 600 mtres that have dorms for 15 MYR pp pn

    Touts will usually stop you on your way to the bus terminal asking for higher price for the transportation to Kinabalu park.

    They will usually offer rm12-15 per person. There are a couple of company running the same route, so not too worry, reject their offer and you can easily get one with reasonable price.

  • When you get down from the bus at the timpohon gate, the driver will ask you: do you want to get a walking stick? It is rm3.

    If you think you really need it, then you can buy now. Or then the next person ask you this question will be the person at Laban Rata. They sell it at rm5.

    If you only need them down hill, then you can buy it at Laban Rata. It is not really a tourist trap, just some general info.
