The secluded Similajau National Park covers a relatively untouched coastal area and a rainforest... Located about 20km from the oil town of Bintulu, it is easily accessible from the town by a tarred road... The park headquarters has public facilities such a canteen, accommodation, jetty and rest rooms... The best way to see the park is take a boat ride from Bintulu and to walk along its many trails...

The beach runs for 25km along the gently meandering coastline punctuated by rocky headlands... From the boat, one can see the beautiful coastline and detour to the Sebubong River, said to be the most beautiful river in the park...It has fast rapids that flow into a natural pool called Sebubong Pool, about 1km from the river estuary... There are also isolated beaches called Turtle Beach and Golden Beach...

Turtle beach is so named because turtles come here to lay eggs... The Golden Beach is the park's most enchanting beach with sparking sand set againts scenic cliffs and beach vegetations...

Trekking enthusiasts, there are many branch trails from the main 10km trail running along the coast Turtle Beach and Golden Beach... Several short trails connect to small rapids like Batu Anchau and Sekunsur... Others lead to View Point Hut and to a 450m long plank walkway that meanders thru the mangrove forest...

Taxis from Bintulu town will cost RM40 or RM65 from the airport...Syarikat Bus Bintulu plies the route to the road junction to the park from where you can walk to the park which is 9km away... The bus fare is RM18 one way... There are chalets, hostels and camp sites in the park where visitors can stay for the night...
