This museum shows the history of Islam in Sarawak and information on the tenets and beliefs of Islam in general. The museum is housed in a restored Colonial building worth seeing on its own. It's a great museum and a must see in Kuching.

Islamic Museum - A brief history of Islamic feats
The Islamic Museum, opened in 1992, was originally constructed and used as a school. It has displays in seven galleries, consisting of the History of Islam in the Malay Archipelago, Islamic Architecture, Science and Technology, Economy, Education and Literature, Islamic Music, Weaponry, Personal Ornaments and Al-Quran.
Bottom-line: This museum has well-organized displays and a wide collection of artifacts, which are particularly interesting for someone who doesn't know much about Islam (such as myself). And like the Sarawak Museum, it's FREE.
