Like all growing cities their is increasing incidents of petty crimes in Kuching. It is wise to exercise caution by not wearing valuables and avoid dark alleys at night.
When you are walking around Kuching, watch up for pickpockets in crowded areas and also be very careful when walking along roads as there have been increasing incidents of purse snatchers using motorbikes in recent years targetting female.
If you are driving do not leave any items showing in unattended/parked car as your window are likely to be broken and items stolen.
