Bat observatory: Keep an eye on the sky
by kyoub
At dusk you can see a couple of million bats emerge from their caves. There is a bat observatory that has been built here so you can get a good view, You really can see them for quite a distance away also. These free-tailed bats spend the daytime in the cave and come out in the evening to search for food. This swarm is a must see while you are here. I only got to see them one evening because most of the time it was raining at that time and they didn't come out..
Bako National Park trail: Jungle Trekking at night time
by Tommiandtanja
As we were walking in the jungle in the middle of the night our guide, Raymond, almost stumbled on a Python laying down on the ground! The Python then started to climb up a tree and as it was reaching the top it came trembling down with a bunch of branches, and Tanja got hit by one of them. Luckily the Python did not fell on anybody as there were a group of people underneath. As usual, Tommi did not have his camera with him when all of this happened. Many thanks to Dirk and Sabine for sending their snapshot of this memorable moment!
