I was there few years ago, and was stung by mosquitoes while walking on the street... so better be safe than sorry.... better protect yourself with an insect repellent. =)

If you're at the at the wrong place, at the wrong time, you'll might encounter some gang fights. But do not worry, if you don't mess with them, they will not mess around with you, too. ;-)
