 | Taman Negara Restaurants | Tips 1 - 10 of 13 | | Popular Restaurants | Other Restaurants Tips | All Tips (13) Honestly, don't dine at this place unless you have to. I didn't have a choice as I took a package and all meals were had here. Food sucks big time here as portions were measly and salty. Argh. Not that I was into gourmet ala Taman Negara but my food has to be platable.
Honestly, the only thing I enjoyed at the table was the fellowship I had with my friends. If not for them, meal times would be a sad affair. Leave a Comment Theme: Local

Rumbia is one of the nicest floating restaurants in these parts. The owners had put effort into decorating it with native blowpipes, masks and menus made from bark and leaves. To add to the surreal atmosphere, there were wind chimes made from hollowed bamboo that would sing out ...telling an ancient tale. I am not sure if this restaurant still exists because I was there in 2002. I certainly hope it is.
The food was not particularly memorable, but the whole restaurant was comfortable, cosy and special. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: By the river

The restaurants lining the river offer reasonably priced food and comfortable atmosphere. Especially in the evening and even more when heavy rain is falling and all the small boats crossing the river have disappeared the atmosphere becomes very jungle-like. Keep in mind that the Taman Negara is in the Muslim part of the country, no alcohol is served.
The obligatory dishes are fried noodles or rice and satay, but some of the restaurants also offer good burgers. Leave a Comment

These restaurants on the village side of the Sungai Tembeling serve simpler fare, but are a better value than the restaurant at the Mutiara lodge. They will cook your dinner right before your eyes as you sit in molded chairs on a wooden plank floor and feel the evening breeze waft through. If you drink a couple of cold ones while you're eating, you'd better watch your step, though, as you leave. You need to negotiate a narrow plank walkway to get to and from the shore.
In the mornings, the "roti canai" (flat bread fried on a griddle) with "dal" (spicy Indian vegetable gravy) on the side for dipping is the best bet. For lunch and dinner, you can try the freshly caught river fish. Stir-fry veggies with "mee" (noodles) are a nice accompaniment. Then descend the bank, cross the plank walkway, and step onto the raft.

I lunch to Buffet, poor quality of the food. Only rice and little chicken. They are not very clean, eating on a boat on the river is very nice.

All our meals were included in the package that we had taken up. Dinner for the first night at the rainforest resort was quite sumptuous - Didn't really expect I could get nice food here at Taman Negara. We were served a set dinner - fried rice, beef, lamb, grilled fish wrapped in aluminium foil, chicken wings, veggies, satay (best)! That's really a lot for us to finish all. All tasted quite good except for the beef and lamb as I found the meat a bit too tough. The next morning, breakfast came in buffet style. We had toast, cornflakes, fried beehoon, sausages etc, not bad too. For the second day dinner, although not as good as the first one, but still okay. We had fried rice, chicken and veggie. The prices at this restaurant is slightly more expensive than those at the floating restaurants but at least its food is good. It serves local and Malaysian style Western food. We had paid for a room and food package and when there, we ate buffet style meals everyday, joining those who had paid for group bookings. We were also served extra dishes when the buffet for the group was of a lower value than what we were entitled to. I don't eat beef so the cook made lamb for me instead whenever beef was on the menu. We also had the opportunity to taste the very excellent and expensive patin fish at this restaurant on the first evening (without paying extra) when a group had BBQ! Breakfast buffet price ranges from RM12-RM20. Lunch buffet is from RM25 and dinner from RM40. You have to call up and order ahead if you are not a hotel guest. You can use the free shuttle service to get to and from the hotel.
Patin fish because it is very smooth and delicious! Across Tembeling River from Mutira Taman Negara, there's several river restaurants. Unfortunately we can't give much information here as we didn't get a chance to eat there... :p. To get there take a RM0.50 boat ride across (per trip). So here's just some photos folks. Leave a Comment Theme: Local
