Garfish, Tanjung Tuan

In case you're wondering, yes, this fish with a lance attached to its nose is known as a Garfish. Legend has it that these fierce looking fish would fly out of the water and impale folks a long time ago in Singapore! The attacks caused the Sultan of Singapore to search high and low for a solution, commit bloody murder, etc. Stuff a good B grade movie would be made of. Well, the garfish in Blue Lagoon, Tanjung Tuan were pretty subdued. Most of them ended in the local fisherman's nets and would probably be cooked in curry by the end of the day. Looks like the lagoon was chock full of these fish.

Dusky Leafed Monkey

Hubby and I spotted at least two types of monkeys in the Tanjung Tuan Nature Reserve, the spectacled Dusky Leafed Monkey and the common Long-tailed Macaque. This little fella was seen near the entrance of the reserve.
