Unfortunately, it is about 40 miles (64 kilometers) from the city center, so it can be expensive to get from the airport into the city. Try to book a hotel that has a transfer service to and from the airport. Convenient air hopping in Malaysia can be done through Air Asia carrier. This company offers low fares for connecting flights within domestic locations in Malaysia and between Malaysia and neighboring countries. We flew between Johor Bahru and Kuching, for a return fare of 30 Euro (37 US$) per person, flights was booked in advance via Air Asia website. The aircraft was in excellent conditions. Seating is free as it's not assigned at check-in. Like any other budget airline there is no free service on board, although there's the chance to purchase snacks and drinks at a reasonable price. Traveling by coach is probably the best way to tour Malaysia. Several companies operate lines connecting the main cities throughout the country. The quality and comfort of coaches varies from acceptable to luxurious. Bus stations are quite chaotic but safe. Too many ticket counters to choose from, each of them acting as an independent travel agent or being the official counter of a major coach company. Pushers compete to prompt you to buy a ticket, many of them continuously yelling out the name of a destination. My advise is to avoid listening to these guys but rather look at coaches pictures and read the schedule signs posted on most ticket counters. Ask for some prices and time of departure, then choose the most appropriate. Ride connecting most important cities can have as many departures as every 30 minutes. Boarding gates are organized by numbers, make sure to go to the right one as the company name on your ticket may be different from the one written on the bus. Show your ticket prior to board to be double sure. We chose to select the upper end of fare range and always traveled aboard comfortable and air-conditined coaches. As an example, fare betwen KL and Penang was 27 RM (6 Euro) each for a 4-5 hours direct ride with only one stop middleway for body leaks. Drivers might franticly wave at any other coach they come across on excellent conditions highways. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

Two-wheelers are a peculiar constant in Asia and Malaysia in no exception. Motorcycles are conveniently useful to move around congested urban areas. And used to transport or deliver goods of any kind. Many shopping malls have dedicated lockers for helmets, and Malaysian toll highways have a dedicated toll-free lane for motorcycles. This should be enough to tell about the quantity of such vehicles on the roads. At times, they cruise like a river stream. We rented one in Penang, Batu Ferringhi area, for the price of 30RM (6 Euro) per 24 hours. The small semi-automatic gear, 4-stroke engine sucked less than 3RM (about 2 liters worth of gas) to take us around all day. Is there any cheaper way to be independent? I simply presented a translation of my driver's license and I wasn't asked for more documents. Advance payment included a deposit of extra 100RM that was refunded upon return. Helmet is mandatory and we got two along with the bike. Leave a Comment Theme: Motorcycle

Most cabs belong to local companies and they can easily be spotted through traffic for their colors, say red/white or red/yellow dependingly on which city. There are also "private" cabs, which are not licensed. Normal cars with driver offering the service outside bus stations or nearby places. We got out of Puduraya bus station in KL and found regular licensed cabs right on our way but they gave us a ridiculously high price for a ride of less than one mile. We decided to walk as we also wanted to see the surroundings with time on our side. Ride fare can be higher than normal for wanna-be-ripped-off tourists. Always ask and negotiate price prior to climb aboard. If you have no idea of what a fair price it would be from point A to point B, try to ask at the hotel desk or restaurant waiters for hints. Then go bargaining. Other cabs include cars or vans owned by some hotels, providing or selling shuttle service to/from airports or other locations. Ask for it when contacting a hotel, as some upper end accommodations have shuttle service included with room rate. Regular cabs are domestically manufactured Proton brand cars, their level of interior accessories varies according to the driver's taste. Some of them are very fancy. Or adobed with practical features such as a spring bicycle rack adapted against the roof. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

From Kota Bharu central bus station you can take bus no 27 to go to Wakaf Bharu train station. The ride takes about half an hour BUT there is no bus stop outside the station. You must watch out for signs on the road or just ask someone to tell you for the bus station. From the bus station you walk 5 mins to get to the train station Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

Taking a coach/bus in malaysia can a guelling or fun journey depending on the type of coach you choose ..so choose carefully I have always prefered NICE and Plusliner coach because of the followings - 1) The bus are more well maintained ( bus tickets you purchase from Puduraya can be a horrifying experience , where you can see practically see cockcroaches having a party in the bus ...yucks ..and there goes your journey ) 2) The pick up area or station is not in Puduraya but Old Train Station ( this save you from having to bear the stench ,odour and blah blah blah due to the overcrowded place ), on contrary you have a cosy cafe in the Old Train Station 3) The departure and arrival is quite accurate ( some bus company in Puduraya take it for granted that Malaysian can wait a long long time ..which is totaly unacceptable ) 4) Safety ( after so many trips thru this company's buses I can say that the drivers are very careful and courteous 5) You can book online now take Plusliner if you want a normal air-con bus else take Nice where space is a luxury. They are also offering double decker service to places like Singapore and Hadyai . Why this bus company is my top choice Leave a Comment

Cheaper way to KLIA for travellers to KLIA by ERL, if u hv a bit of time to spare and don't mind the hassle of extra stop, u can actually save a bit. Do you know that you can travel from KL Sentral to KLIA for as low as RM12.50 instead of the normal fare of RM35.00? Can't blame you for not believing that this is possible. A closer examination on the ERL fare structure using the link below will reveal the following weakness: Sentral(1) --> Bdr. Tasik Selatan(2) RM 4.20 Sentral(1) --> Putrajaya(3) RM 9.50 Sentral(1) --> Salak Tinggi(4) RM 12.50 Sentral(1) --> KLIA(5) RM 35.00 But, Bdr. Tasik Selatan --> Putrajaya RM5.30 Putrajaya --> KLIA RM6.20 So to save money on fares, 1. Either take the ERL to Putrajaya for RM9.50. Get down and buy another ticket from Putrajaya to KLIA for RM6.20. Total cost works out to RM15.70 instead of RM35.00 The inconvenience is having to wait for the next train for about 15 mins peak) or 20 mins (non-peak). But the substantial saving of RM19.30 per person may be worthwhile. Or, 2. Take the Komuter to Bdr. Tasik Selatan for only RM1.00. From here take the ERL to Putrajaya for RM5.30. Get down and buy another ERL ticket to KLIA for RM6.20. The total costs add up to only RM12.50 instead of RM35.00. This option is cheaper by RM 22.50 but the additional hassle may not be worth the additional saving. ERL is banking on the fact that despite this apparent weakness in the fare structure, nobody will take advantage of it mainly because everybody is in such a hurry nowadays! But then who knows, with escalating prices, more people may take advantage of this in future. Leave a Comment Theme: Train

by Coach and Ferry 1) from Puduraya buy a ticket to Lumut for RM16 ( 4hours ) or some people travel to Ipoh ( 3 hours ) for RM13 ( ticket straight to Lumut is recommended as you need to travel from Ipoh to Lumut at RM4.5 for another 2 hours its seems ) 2) the jetty is 3 minutes away, buy a ferry ticket of RM 4.00 ( one way ticket ) to reach Pangkor . Journey takes about 30 minutes. Air-conditioned ferry ! by air you can alternatively fly in a 48 seater plane offered by Berjaya group to the island . Round trip ticket including airport tax and insurance is around RM 450. ( so much more expensive compared to land travel but of course much faster ) click here to check the link Berjaya Air Leave a Comment Theme: Other
