Take the ferry to Gayana Island

There is a ferry leaving the pier at Kota Kinabalu, several times a day for Gayana Island. You can make reservation and go out for the night or just go out for lunch and have a look around. It is a great place to get away to relax.

Train from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur

by joeco9

Night Train to KlWe had planed to go KL from Singspore for a 4 day stay, so I had to find the best way to get there and as we had plenty of time on hand and I like trains it looked like it was a night train from Johor Bahru. I always like to find as much info. before making a booking which we did on the internet and had no problems doing so it all worked out ok.I must say that most of the time the information I got from these VT FORUM have been a lot of help expect the information I got about booking in Johor Bahru as it would be much cheaper ,yes that was right but the hassle we had at the immigration point was not worth the few dollars we saved , but if you are on a budget and a saving of $10 or so is what you are after , well it's your call ,I think the best way to is all the way from Singspore,The train itself was quite good and we had no problems at all .we returned to Singapore on...

Caoch/Bus service in Malaysia

by kenyneo

Taking a coach/bus in malaysia can a guelling or fun journey depending on the type of coach you choose ..so choose carefullyI have always prefered NICE and Plusliner coach because of the followings -1) The bus are more well maintained ( bus tickets you purchase from Puduraya can be a horrifying experience , where you can see practically see cockcroaches having a party in the bus ...yucks ..and there goes your journey )2) The pick up area or station is not in Puduraya but Old Train Station ( this save you from having to bear the stench ,odour and blah blah blah due to the overcrowded place ), on contrary you have a cosy cafe in the Old Train Station3) The departure and arrival is quite accurate ( some bus company in Puduraya take it for granted that Malaysian can wait a long long time ..which is totaly unacceptable )4) Safety ( after so many trips thru this company's buses...

A new coach service between KL - Singapore with convenient departure/arrival venues in both cities and which offer great facilities on its double-deckers. Buses / Coach

If you want to avoid the crush around Pudu, this is a great alternative. You can purchase your tickets at the old KL Railway Station counters (get to the side of the station which is facing the KTM Berhad building - timetables are available at the counter windows) or go online to get schedules, fares and tickets. The NiCE ticket counters are located a floor above, just look for the NiCE Express sign and climb the spiral stairway to get up there.Plusliner currently have 3 coach lines under their banner which are PLUSLINER (4-seaters mid-range), NiCE (3-seaters, lunch included) and NiCE2 (3-seaters, double decker, lounge benefits) which ply most major towns in Malaysia and down south to Singapore.

Fly into KLIA (Kuala Lumpur...

by sklc

Fly into KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) and get limousine services right to the doorstep of famous hotels in the heart of KL. Or board the ERL (see picture!) - the transit train which takes you to the KL Sentral Train Station in 28 minutes! There are two types of ERL. One is the Express (no stops in between) while the commutes to KL via Putrajaya (the new administration hub in Malaysia). The best way to get around in KL is via the various trains (ERL, PUTRA LRT, KTM Commuter or STAR LRT). Taxi services are also good and easily available. Take a bus ride if you're familiar with the bus routes. Also, try walking thru town and exploring for yourself. Always good to plan your trip early... To travel around the country, take the buses (tickets are easily available from PuduRaya Bus Station - Plaza Rakyat STAR LRT stop). Another good option is via flights by Air Asia or MAS which...

Fly Air Asia and pay a little extra for Comfort

by cochinjew

I have flown on Air Asia many many times, from KL to Yangon, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, Ho Chi Minh, Bangalore and Cochin off the top of my head. I like flying with them and i have never had a problem with them. But this is what I do. When you book the ticket they ask you do you want 15 kg of checked baggage or 20 kg or 30 kg, something like that. The additional charge is minimal. I also order the food which is about 2 Euros. So I come to the check in counter, it says on the print out of the ticket that i have paid for extra luggage (when you buy it on line, it is a small amount), i usually have my luggage to check in which is usually way less than the amount I have paid for, and a carry on about 5 kg and my computer. The checking agents has not given me hard time about it at any time, I think it is because this pre payment for luggage and meals is one of the large profit items for Air...

Taxis in Kuala Lumpur

by ruffled

Taxis are cheap and plentiful in Kuala Lumpur (or KL to the locals!) They are metered and are required by law to use the meter. But this is not always the case. The driver might tell you there are traffic jams and so will want to charge you a flat rate agreed upon before your trip.Often times there won't be any real delays (of cos KL sees pretty heavy traffic at certain times of the day and days of the week or in the rain).Usually when the cab is flagged on the street, the cabbie is happier to go by the meter Metered rates are quite low and increase slowly, so I don't blame the cabbie for trying to get more with a flat charge. I am happy to leave an extra tip if they do go by the meter. At least this way, you know you are paying what you're supposed to and the cabbie gets a bit extra -- Win-win!That said, of course there are times when taxis are impossible to come by (time of day or...
