Thai Border crossing Wang Kelian by private car

by wondersF

Good that you askedI was wondering was your question directed to getting public transport? The destination you are intending - Satun. There is only one suitable entry point -Wang Kelian. Sadao is the Thai name for what we call Kayu Bukit Hitam.Th road is very good on both sides. Approx distances - Kangar to Kaki Bukit about - 32 kilometers. Kaki Bukit to checkpoint - 5 kilometers. Checkpoint to Hat Yai/ Satun trunk road - 21 kilometers. Junction to Satun town - 12 kilometers.I do not have experience with the hotel in Satun but I am sure that in todays society, finding one is not a problem. As a fall back situation, you can always drive back to Hat Yai at any time - 80 kilometers to get your Thai for Hotel. The road on Thai side was in very good condition last time in July 2010, tar road used mainly by Pasar Malam traders. Though desserted at times but definately safe - some kampong houses...

From Kangar to Satun

by wondersF

That's is beautiful stretch of road passing by Wang kelian. The main taxi center are in Kangar or Padang Besar. From Padang Besar, I think the taxi would follow the way by-passing Hat Yai. It is a big loop.I suppose you could enquire in Padang Besar about a taxi service using the Wang kelian immigration point or better still make a holiday to Wang kelam and while you are there, ask about taxi service in Kaki Bukit. That's the nearest town and is quite a fair tourist town. You need not get a cab to take you to Satun. You could end your trip at the junction after passing the border [21 kilometers] joins the trunk road coming from from Hat Yai. From that point transportion to Satun town is a breeze. From then on another 12 kilometers to Satun Town.

Kuala Lumpur International Airport

by traveldave

The new Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) is a modern and efficient airport. Unfortunately, it is about 40 miles (64 kilometers) from the city center, so it can be expensive to get from the airport into the city. Try to book a hotel that has a transfer service to and from the airport.Airlines serving Kuala Lumpur International Airport: Air Astana, Air-India, Air-India Express, Air Mauritius, Air Niugini, Air Zimbabwe, AirAsia, Best Air, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, China Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Egyptair, Emirates, Etihad Airways, EVA Air, Garuda Indonesia, Gulf Air, Hong Kong Express Airways, Iran Air, Japan Airlines, Jetstar Asia Airways, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Korean Air, Kuwait Airways, Lion Airlines, Lufthansa German Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Merpati Nusantara Airline, MAI-Myanmar Airways International, Pakistan...

Jungle Train in Malaysia

by K2NG

The famous Jungle Tarin in Malaysia starts from Wakaf Baharu in Kota Bahru,a small town bordering Thailand. The best time to start is the 6.20am train. There are other train starting at 4 am. This timing is too early. You will be better off sleeping inside the train and let he beautiful scenery whisk past you in your dreams. But the 6.20am is a local train. So do not bother to buy that tickets in advance. Tickets are open for take 1 hour before the trains starts. Since it is a local train, it will bring you furthest to Kuala Lipis. But do not worry about availability of seats as not many tourists can be found on this train. When I was on this train on 11 Apr morning , only a lady from Taiwan was with me on this ride, and the rest of the passengers were locals making their routine trip to neigbouring villages. There were many empty seats though. Take note to bring a sweater or pullover...

KL Monorail

by ant1606

Chance for an elevated point of view is provoded by the efficient Monorail running through and around downtown Kuala Lumpur. The ride spares the street-level traffic and gives the impression of being out in a different space until the 22 million yearly passengers step down to Earth again.A dream-like ride facilitates naps, although the evanescent environment can still be colorful through the eyes of those who stay awake.

Kota Bahru from KL

by cochinjew

A much easier way to get to Kota Bahru would be to fly there..from KLIA with MH or from LCCT with Air Asia. check their websites for good fares, they would be sometimes comparable to the bus fares and you get there within the hour...Joe ahove can advise how to get from the airport to the city centre..The train journey is fascinating but much longer..
