UTILISE THE GOOD PUBLIC TRANSPORT SYSTEMS

by DennyP

Malaysia has a very good public transport system in its capital city and is easy to use and inexpensive..don't be afraid to use it when you need it...also long distance trains are excellent ...clean fast and reliable..easy to book long distance tickets at major Stations. .Local suburban stations all have railway maps on platforms easily marked for directions and stations..The Main Railway Station in Kuala Lumpur has all amenities needed...money: ATM's ..Luggage lockers to make getting around easy..plenty of place to buy food for a long train journey either north to Butterworth?Penang and Bangkok..or south to Singapore..

Penang to Redang Island, Terengganu

by tiskand

Penang is on the West coast and Redang Island is on the East coast. There are daily comfortable and inexpensive aircond coaches for the 8-9 hour journey from Penang (Komtar Station or Butterworth Station) to Kuala Terengganu town (where there are many buses to Merang town from where one can catch regular boats to Redang Island).

AIRPORT TRANSFRE

by joeco9

Airport Transfer After a long flight of 8 hours , the first thing on my mind is to get our luggage next is for a coffee then finding the best way to get our hotel. At KL airport there more then one to do this , sky bus , train both will take you Sentral KL main train station then a taxi to your hotel we found the cost is not much more to take a taxi from the airport which will get to your hotel , for a taxi you can buy a coupon from the taxi kiosk or do as we do just walk out said the main airport hall the drivers will give you a price around 60/80 MR ,the train cost is about 35MR each (do the sums )and you'll still have to get to your hotel after arriving at Sentral . Now going to the airport is an other story , if you have a late flight and you have check out of your hotel some hours before your airport departure time taking the train from Sentral is a great idea as you can check...

Ferry Terminal, Pulau Langkawi

by hopang

Ferry is one of the best means of transportation to travel between mainland Malaysia and Langkawi island. There are many ferry operators plying the route between Langkawi and Kuala Perlis in Perlis, Kuala Kedah in Kedah and Georgetown in Penang island. The fares vary between RM12.00 and RM35.00 per adult and RM7.00 and RM18.00 per child one way. There are even ferries depart for Satun in Thailand from Langkawi. The nearest point between mainland Malaysia and Langkawi is Kuala Perlis in the state of Perlis. It costs just RM12.00 per adult and RM7.00 per child. It takes just one hour to travel between these two destinations. However if you wish to travel to another popular tourist destination in Northern Malaysia, i.e. Penang Island, you may travel by M/s Bahagia Express. The telephone number of Langkawi office is listed below. It costs RM35.00 per adult and RM18.00 per child one way. Most...

Melaka Sentral, Melaka

by hopang

Melaka Sentral is located at Jalan Tun Abdul Razak next to Tesco Department Store in the heart of Melaka City. It is an inter-states bus terminal. Buses to various major cities of Malaysia are available from this terminal such as to Seremban, Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, Kuantan, Kuala Terengganu, Kota Bahru, Genting Highlands, Ipoh or Penang. Melaka Sentral is the largest public transportation terminal in Melaka. It is also the first fully air-conditioned bus terminal in Malaysia. It was opened to the public in 2004 at the cost of approximately RM30.00 millions. It has two wings, one for the taxis and the other for the buses. Local restaurants and small shops and stores dealing mainly in budget clothings, arts and crafts, souvenirs, fashion accessories and watches are also located at the bazaar in Melaka Sentral. A wet and dry market is located adjacent to Melaka Sentral.

Getting between East and Western Malaysia

by sikky

www.airasia.com:connects KL, JB and Penang with Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.KL and JB with Sibu and Miri.KL with Bintulu, Labuan, Sandakan, Tawau and Brunei. The national carrier malaysiaairlines.com also has very good value flights connecting peninsular Malaysia with Sabah and Sarawakanother low cost carrier - www.maswings.com.my - connects places within Sabah and Sarawak, or you could hop on a bus to get around.if you really want to avoid flying and still get onto Borneo you would have to take a long way around and get on a variety of ferries and boats first to Indonesia (Sumatra), continue overland, then another boat to Java and then another to Kalimantan where you could continue overland and cross a border into Malaysian Borneo. Check www.pelni.com for Indonesian ferry schedules.hope this is of some help - albert sikkens

KL International Airport Transport

by cafank

Easy transport to KL Sentral if you are arriving before or around midnight. The last train leaves at 0100 and then from Sentral you can easily get a cab to where you need to be.There is an express service - KLIA Express, and KLIA Transit. Express was a little dearer and left more often. If you are not in a hurry though, and want to save money get the KLIA Transit which goes every 30 minutes and stops at stations.

LCCT Transport to KL

by cafank

Getting to and from the LCCT Airport is easy. There are very regular buses departing outside the terminal (to/from Sentral). There are two diffferent companies operating and they will tout for your fare either 7 or 8 MR. I've tried both and found no real difference - some buses are a bit better (newer) than others but the trip to town is the same. About an hour depending on traffic. I ahve also prepaid a cheaper fare on the plane when arriving. You can pay on the bus.
