Super Nice Express bus Malacca-Singapore

by Maggah

Most of the buses to Singapore go fromthe new bus station which is about 3km outside Malacca. I picked Super Nice, or Grassland as they're also called, to avoid the trek out of town!! Their office is at a café (painted green) at #1 Jalan Tun Sri Lanang, diagonally opposite the Grand Hotel Continental. The bus leaves at 1230 daily & costs 25 ringgit. The phone no. if you want to reserve is 06 284 4253 or 4294.The seats were HUGE, they stop half-way through the 5-hour journey so you can have some food in a massive food court & they show films to pass the time as there's not much in the way of scenery.2 other advantages: this company uses the newer causeway into Singapore and there was very little traffic, even though it was a weekend. You take your passport & leave the bus for Malaysian immigration, then take your bags as well for Singapore immigration & customs. The bus is waiting at the...

Jungle train

by Maggah

The jungle train leaves Kota Bahru for Singapore every day at 0625. Try & get your tickets in advance - the day I turned up the train was full. I could only buy a seat as far as Gua Musang - about a third of the journey! However, once on the train they let me pay the difference to Gemas (where the Jungle Railway meets the main west-coast line) even though I wasn't guaranteed a seat.Wakaf Bahru, Kota Bahru's station, is about 7km out of town. Get your hotel to book you a taxi for the early start as round town it's deserted! It is an amazing trip - some stations are just a patch cleared in the jungle with a signboard to let you know where you are. There's a restaurant car which serves decent food - you can eat in the restaurant bit or "take away" back to your seat.I took a seat in superior class air-con. The non air-con section is free seating and you see very little through the grotty...

Bus/Train in Malaysia

by lotharscheer

Buses in Malaysia are quite good, and to most destinations very frequent, and exept of major holiday, there is no need to book ahead. The bus from Penang to Kota Bahru/Perhentian Islands you should probably book the day before. This busride is nice, but quite exhausting. If you want to take a plane for this part (also from Penang: > Ko Samui, > Phuket, > Langkawi):http://www.fireflyz.com.my/Train are comfortable, but more expensive, and slow. In my opinion the only interesting line is from Kota Bahru/Wakaf Baharu to Gemas (possible stop in Jerantut) through the jungle (but the expresstrains run in the night on this line). Penang to Thailand with Minibus or Train (Sleeper to Bangkok very comfortable, but without aircon only from Hat Yai, for Surat Thani/Ko Phangan inconfinient arraival time), book the day before.

Kuala Lumpur to Singapore

by Neonstrocity

I have been traveling to and from K.L to Singapore for many years and have always flown. This time I decided to take a bus, and it was great! I paid a couple of buck more for a bigger seat, and it was huge, and it had an electrical connection so I plugged in my laptop and worked away. The trip was about 5 hours, with one break in between. It left from downtown K.L and arrived in downtown Singapore. It would have taken the same amount of time to get to the K.L. Airport, check-in, wait for a flight, fly and then get into town as the bus and the bus was hassle fee and comfortable. The bus picked me up at the bottom of my hotel at about 8:00 and we left from there directly. So no need to check out early catch a cab and get to the airport so early. From now on this is the only way I am going to travel between Singapore and K.L. Oh by the way did I mention it was way less expensive?

Transfer to the East Coast

by mansionion

There's no direct public transport from Cameron Highlands to the East Coats (eg Kota Baharu). However, some travel agents in Cameron Highland can arrange for private van transfer from there to Kota Baharu for journey to Perhentian islands. You may enquire on this arrangement once you arrive in Cameron Highlands.

Options for travel from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur

by AskMissTravel

There are four options for affordable travel between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur (or KL, as everyone calls it):1) Train. Really slow, not that cheap, and only runs 2 or 3 times a day.2) Rent a car. I don't know whether you can bring cars across the border, but you could rent one in Johor Baru (aka JB, just the other side of the border from Singapore). Driving in Malaysia is a bit hectic and the signs aren't that good, but you'd have total freedom. A car would cost about RM120/day if you haggle a little and go with a local company instead of one of the big international Hertz/Avises.3) Fly. AirAsia flies between Singapore and KL for quite cheap. However, in KL they use the Low-Cost Carrier Terminal which is an hour from town by (cheap) bus.4) Bus. There are buses between Singapore and KL every few minutes from morning until evening. This can be the cheapest way to go and it's much faster...

Singapore to Malaysia (KL) by train/bus

by bkarjee

If you wish to visit KL from Singapore and want to take a night ride, there are both train and bus options available, but the journey is not long. It is just around 5-6 hrs by train and 4-5 hrs by bus. But one problem you are likely to face upon arrival in KL is that the check-in time of most of the hotels is 12 noon. If you take a night bus or train, most likely you will be reaching KL at 6 a.m. and the Hotel staff may not be willing to allow you a check-in before 12 noon. Sometimes, they may be accomodative and allow check-in by 10 a.m. The Singapore-KL buses and trains are very comfortable. For train tickets, I will suggest booking at least a week in advance. You can book the train tickets online at http://www.ktmb.com.my/ (Malaysian railway website)

Easy Travel - MRT

by BrideTObee

I found that the easiest way to get around Kuala Lumpur was to travel around on the MRT it gets you speedily to one place to the next. If you have a hotel that is close to the MRT I highly recommend using it. As in the two days that we were in KL we only went on foot and the MRT and we got around without getting lost.

air hub

by ponloke

With Air Asia, it is easier and cheaper for Malaysian and foreign visitors to visit Malaysia and the SE Asia. Because of it, Malaysia Airlines will also start Firefly, a local budget flight. Travelling has never been so easier and attractive. Go to their webs and register. You will be informed if there is any promotions. I found that the package / hotels rates offer by them are equally attractive. If you enjoy the natural sceneries like the tropical forest, villages scenes, plantations and beaches, then travel overland by buses is the other way. All the bus terminals in Malaysia are centered lacated and fares are cheap relatively. And we have very good interstate highways.
