Luna Bar, Kuala Lumpur
one of my first impressions of Malaysia was not the youth hostel, but the bar we were taken to. When we arrived after a 12:35 hrs flight, we just had some time to shower and change into new clothes before starting our first night out. Leila and Belle, two Malayan girls my travel companion knew for a long time from Germany, took us out on a night to the Luna Bar. And what a good choice they made for out first impression of KL! The place is located on top of the PanGlobal building and gives you a stunning good look over the city. Maybe the only disadvantage is has it that it is located in such and angle that you are only able to see one of the two Petronas Towers. The music played in this club includes all kind of international dance numbers as well as some which are only popular in the far east.
There is an entry fee of 50 RM (2010) which includes a free drink. The Luna Bar is equipped with a pool (which is closed before most of the visitors come in). Try to get one of the niches with glass front for best view. An even better view is available from the bar on the balcony which gives you a glass barrier – free view over KL.
Dress Code: Dresscodes do not apply, but they may deny access, if you stand out of the crowd in a negative way. Anyway, they did even let me in, so the hurdle is pretty low.
The Luna is a great rooftop bar with a great nightview over KL. What can be better than a cold beer or cocktail with nice tunes and a view to the Petronas Towers on the one side and the Menara KL Tower on the other side? It is located on the 34th floor rooftop of the Pan Global Building and owned by the Pacific Regency Hotel. The centrally located pool completes the scenery and while you usually never talk about the restrooms, man did I enjoy the incredible view from the toilet while.....well, lets say I just reliefed myself from another beer while watching the beautiful city panorama at the same time ;-)
If you want to chill out with a great view on KL, the Luna Bar is the perfect place.
This top floor, pool side, lounge bar is my favorite in KL to have a drink and relax at night.
Drinks start from 20 RM. Possibility to eat but the food is not that great. Entrance is free except on Friday and Saturday night (50 RM with a drink).
Dress Code: No shorts and no slippers for men at night.
A must do is the Luna Bar which seems to be a well kept local secret. On the roof top of the Pacific Regency Hotel, the lounge is has two levels and offers one of the best views of the city. The open air poolside lounge offers great seating with plate glass windows and breath taking vistas while the upper level lets you look down on the pool as well as enjoy the breezes. Do also visit the rest rooms - for the decor if not for anything else. ....
Dress Code: Normal niteclub wear
Luna Bar is situated on the 34th floor of the Pan Pacific building which is hotel, private appartments and offices. The bar is situated around the pool with excellent views of the Petronas Towers, the KL Tower and the city centre.
They have alcoves surrounded by glass making the most of the views. Reservations are recommended on weekends and there is a service charge after 22.00. They have a food menu as well with pizza and various snacks.
As it centred around the pool, drinks are served in plastic glasses and unfortunately no swimming is allowed.
This is one of my favourite hand out places in KL, the other being Lecka Lecka, see other night life tip for more details :o)
Dress Code: No shorts or flip flops, this is urban chic :o)
Luna bar is located on the roof of the Pacific Regency Hotel
Dress Code: Fancy - collared shirt and nice jeans or pants. Black leather shoes for men, dress shoes/heels for women. No flipflops or torn denim.
