Chinatown: Jalan Petaling
No visit to Kuala Lumpur is complete without visiting the nightly open-air markets at Jalan Petaling right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown even if shopping is not your cup of tea. Wide ranges of items can be bought inexpensively from street vendors such as clothings, shoes, leather belts, wallets, travelling bags, watches, DVDs, audio and video CDs, fabrics, souvenirs, fashion accessories and household goods. Tourists must be aware that some of these branded items sold here are fakes. For those who are looking for eateries especially the mouth-watering local delicacies, there are never short of excellent cafés, bars and restaurants around the nightly open-air markets. Street vendors dealing in fresh fruits and fruit juices are not uncommon in the vicinity of the nightly open-air markets.

This fresh market is located on Jalan Hang Lekir next to Hotel Malaya. The entrance is in between two florists. The best thing about this wet market is that you can find some local food in the hawker stalls inside. The best food to try here include: ice kacang, cendol, yong tau foo, curry noodle, chee cheong fun (Kampar style), etc. Just make sure what you want to eat before you sit down. It is a bit messy though, but very authentic Malaysian style.
