The Genting Highlands seem to be a very popular weekend playground for KL's more affluent citizens.
The hilltop landscape is one of large concrete resorts with huge theme parks.
It must be popular with families because it was very crowded on the Sunday that I went there.
Genting also has a much cooler climate with day time temperatures in the mid 20's. It certainly makes for a cool relief from the heat and humidity of KL.
You can read more about this highlands retreat on my Genting pages.

Good place to spend the day at if you want to get away from the hustle, bustle and heat of K.L as the temperature is much cooler up at this altitude with swirling mists in the evenings.
Get one of the all-in-one packages that they sell at the Times Square Hotel lobby as it'll save you quite a bit.
I must say a lot of attractions have been added to the place since I was last there. You will need a good whole day and it is family oriented so bring the kids...

I know that Genting Highlands should be a page on its own but I wasn't up there long enough to really enjoy it. Nor did I think I'd ever wiould after 2 nights there.
Even though it calms to be world of entertainment, I think it just lack any style or charm with it's poorly design casinos, hotels and inferstructure.
However, I have to give it a thumbs up for the clean, fresh air that you get to enjoy when you get up to the top. It's a refreshing change from the hot and stickiness you get at ground level in KL.

Just an hour's drive away from K.L. is the highland resort of Genting Highlands.
You can go there to chill out... to gamble away... or to just to enjoy the cool mountain air! :-)) This place is like the Las Vegas of the East.... and it also houses a world-class casino, a theme park and several first-class hotels and an excellent 18 hole golf course.
From Kuala Lumpur (the capital city of Malaysia) on a clear night, you can even see the bright lights of Genting Highland twinkling in the sky! Not surprising since Genting Highland is just a mere one hour's drive away from K.L.
Did you know that the development of Genting Resort began way back in 1965 and today, it has bloomed into a MAJOR holiday resort drawing thousands of visitors from all over the region? And it's no wonder too... with its cool weather, lush greenery and a wide range of recreational activities making this an ideal INEXPENSIVE destination.
