  • Tip Rating:
  • It is quite cheap to buy one in KL if yours unfortunately got torn along the way.

KL is hot (average abt 35 degC) and humid. Sleeved or sleeveless tops would be sufficient. Good walking shoes if you gonna do some shopping. Umbrella would be handy during the monsoon season when it is likely to rain most days. You can buy anything you need in KL. It is cheap too...

Seeing a doctor is cheap if you fall sick. There are also 24hrs clinics around. Toiletries and medical supplies can be obtained in convenient shops or pharmacies everywhere.

Photographic equipment are not expensive. Films and batteries can be bought everywhere in photographic shops.

    An umbrella
  • Tip Rating:
  • No matter wether it was the rainy season or not an umbrella is always a must when travelling to KL. once I almost got stuck at KLCC cause it started to rain and I had no umbrealla with me...I had to take a taxi back to my accomodation(which is like 15 minutes walk away from the KLCC).

This city is too modern and yet too convenience for tourists, even sometimes I hate seeing so many luggage and bag shops in the city centre, out of the city as well.

Sorry this tip is a little embarrass to talk in public but if I don't tell you, it could be a problem. If you are large breasted woman, please bring all your bras, because such measurements are rare in Malaysia. Besides Malay Muslim women, the best way to dress in KL is a singlet, short with slippers/sandals. Too hot to wear long sleeves, of course this is my personal opinion. Not easy to buy long pants if you are over 6'4'ft. Malaysian's average heights are 5'6' male and 5'3' for female. Perhaps you need a small umbrella or a lightweight rain jacket. Shoes are problem if you are over 6'5". Beds too are only to fit the size of Malaysian, not for peoples over 6,5".

You don't need any because we have Toiletries And Medical Supplies in Malaysia at everywhere. Chinese Medicine shops, Pharmacy, Clinics are abundant.

You don't need any. You can come and buy all Photo equipments from KL's Photo Shops. Kodak 200 RM12. Fuji, Konica, Agfa, Samsung. But sorry, we don't have Malaysian made film yet to offer.

No place for you to camp in KL city. But if you insist to camp, we suggest you to try sleeping at our beautiful parks. There we normally have nice wooden made pavillions.

Kuala Lumpur has all materials you needed. The only exception are illegal materials such as porno magazines, drug, weapons, etc. If you have VT ID Card, pack it.

    Others packing
  • Tip Rating:
  • This picture show a woman tourist and her partner with small backpack at the back of Chinatown. You can see her hand is holding a LonelyPlanet guidebook and a city map, that probablt is the most common way of self arranged travel styles. Special notice for women tourists, try not to wear like this woman in picture while visiting the Islamic places especially mosque, and if you want to travel north to Kelantan, please cover all entirely except your head, the state of Kelantan is under strict Islamic control.

    Stuff the bag!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Bring an extra bag and fold it into your bigger luggage! You might need it after all those shopping in KL, its a great place to shop and you have endless stuff to buy.

Leave those thick jackets at home. Its kinda hot here so bring more T-shirts(or u can buy it here anyway) and bermuda pants. Oh, and a foldable umbrella would be a good thing to have in your bag too for rain or shine. Oh.. bring your swim trunks/suit as well, most hotels have nice pools for you to cool down after a hot day out.

Hmm, I think you can get most toiletries here and our pharmacies are reliable. Maybe some vitamins to recuperate your body after a long day out?

We have many photo and camera shops here so no worries. From films to memory cards and batteries.

I think its good to carry a bottle of water with you since its `summer` all year round here and alot of our food are spicy.

    Mosquito Repellent!!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Tshirt and shorts.

Toilet paper if you had any otherwise use the leaves from nearby plants. No kidding!

Oh man, if you come without mosquito repellent, you might as well draw your own blood and feed it to them.

    Packing List
  • Tip Rating:
  • If you intend to stay in a hotel, then leave your baggage there. Just make sure you have a small knapsack to move around. It should be able to store your camera, water, citymap, coins (for public transport) and maybe a notebook and pen, just in case.

Dress casual if walking around town! Wear shorts or three-quarter pants. A simple T-shirt or cotton blouse would do. Bring a cap along and an umbrella in case it rains! Also bring a nice dress along if planning to wine and dine in a more fancy restaurant.

Your toilettries should include items you can't live without especially if you are particular about the brand. However, pharmacies are found everywhere and anywhere in KL. Bring a simple medical kit.

Lots of camera shops around at cheap prices. So no worries!

It would be a good idea to travel light to KL so that you may buy more stuff home!

    Hot sun here!
  • Tip Rating:
  • If you're referring to the world map, Malaysia is located very near to the equator. Basically, we're having summer all the time. So ...... just remember to bring sun protection cream and light clothings.
