The climate is generally hot and humid. Wear light clothes, long cotton trousers or shorts and cotton shirts or T-shirts. Long sleeved shirts are better because they keep the mosquitoes out especially in the evening. A hat or a cap will provide a shelter from the sun. Wear strong sensible shoes or slippers.
Bring along medicines for malaria, stomach disorder, diarrhea and anti-mosquito spray (cream). It’s good to bring a small first aid kit. Ask your doctor about health risks in the area and prepare yourself accordingly.

What type of clothes do you need to pack?? The weather here in Malaysia is generally HOT and HUMID. Be prepared to perspire alot here under the sweltering heat. So pack along clothes that will aid in cooling your body! DO NOT come to Malaysia (esp. if you heading to the East Coast of Malaysia and the beaches) during the Monsoon period i.e. from November to February. But if you intend to hang around the capital city, K.L., then no worries. You can come anytime!
If you're going to spend lots of time at the beach, DO bring LOTS of SUNBLOCK lotion! Even if you forget to bring one, don't worry. You can buy it from any supermarkets or shops here. They don't cost a bomb. And yes, you can even find your favorite brands here like Coppertone or Body Shop or Hawaiian Tropics etc.
O.K., here's something on currency exchange: No need to change all your money into traveler's checks or Malaysian Ringgit before arriving. You can actually withdraw ALL the money you need at any ATM machines here in Malaysia. Yes, just ensure that your ATM is linked to the 'Cirrus', 'Plus', 'The Exchange' etc networks. Once it's linked, you can withdraw cash in Malaysian Ringgit even from the remotest banks here in Malaysia. And the important thing I've discovered about using this method is that you actually benefit from the interbank exchange rates. Trust me, it'd work. I've tried it countless of times before and have NEVER been disappointed. The minute you arrive at the Airport, just head straight to any ATM machines located just outside the Arrival Hall and you can withdraw cash for your holiday enjoyment. Of course, the ONLY person I can see that'd fume over this recommendation of mine are the money changers! ;-)) 'Sailing round the world in a dirty gondola... oh, to be back in the land of Coca-Cola!' - Bob Dylan

If you forget to bring anything to Malaysia, have no fear: you can buy it in KL. My friend and I were amazed at how many shopping centers are located in this country, which after a while we started calling 'Mall-asia'! Leave a Comment

I took a very large bag, which I quickly filled with fake t shirts and clothes.
In July/August, it is rather humid, so slevesless tops and skirts/shorts would be recommended. Leave a Comment

Inexperienced travelers take note: Always carry your essential documents -- passports, money, credit cards, and air tickets -- on your person. Under no circumstances should you pack them, whether in your hand luggage or your checked bag. To do so invites disaster. Leave a Comment
