Malaysia is a Muslim country, with many visitors from the Middle East. If you are a female traveler traveling solo, to keep the stares and maybe even stalkers away, it best that you pack clothing that cover your legs. Short shorts, tight dresses, or mini skirts, may bring on some uncomfort. Leave a Comment

You can dress informally in most places in Malaysia, but some fancy places require some etiquette. Keep in mind that the weather is very hot and humid, but the air conditionning makes that the contrast between outdoor and indoor temperatures is brutal, so a light jacket is always very handy. You may wish to carry a small umbrella or a raincoat when exploring KL, unless you don't mind getting wet or stranded in the downpour. During the rainy season, usually rains in the late afternoon, if not the entire day! And it might be heavy - roads will become flooded in the matter of minutes! Be careful if you're wearing flipflops, they might be carried away by the rushing water! Leave a Comment

It is highly recommended to bring along rucksack, haversack or any other appropriate travelling bags whenever you go on a vacation. I usually bring along such bags on all my vacations whether locally or abroad. The bags will be very useful and handy to carry along on your back. Examples of such items that can be placed in the bags are binoculars, digital camera, video camera, batteries and rolls of films. The bags will become very handy when you shop for souvenirs and postcards. It is advisable to leave your passports, important travel documents such as air tickets and extra cash that you do not need for that day at hotel's security safes to avoid against thefts, pickpockets or even robberies on the streets!
Among the most important items to be brought along with you whenever and wherever you go on your vacation are photographic equipments such as digital cameras, conventional cameras, video cameras, batteries, batttery chargers, sufficient rolls of films and memory sticks.

This tip is especially important to all the women travelers out there!! Take this tip to heart because I learned the hard way and no one gave me any advice. At all costs... keep yourself dry in your unmentionable areas. This is extremely hard to do, but be diligent and do the best that you can. Wear cotton undies, loose fitting pants/shorts/capris/skirt. Change undies multiple times a day if necessary. Use powder. Heck, use the blow dryer to make sure you are dry. I know this sounds ridiculous, but take my word for it. When you are not used to a hot and humid climate, your body freaks out in many ways. Trust me, you do not want an infection in this area. I repeat: YOU DO NOT WANT AN INFECTION IN THIS AREA! It's painful, it's embarassing, and it puts a big damper on your trip. Like I said, I had to learn the hard way.
