Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Doryx (doxycyline) is used to treat bacterial infections and it works by stopping the growth of bacteria.
It comes in a capsule and shoul be taken about a week before travelling and for two weeks longer after returning home.
This medication is also used to prevent malaria and although this is not a major problem in Malaysia, my doctor recommended taking it.
I did tell him that I would be visiting the jungles and mangroves during my stay there.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Travellers' diarrhoea (TD) is a common problem for international travel and any country different from where you normally live in could be a problem because of different bugs and hygiene standards.
And because a Western diet is typically a sterile one, they are more at risk of ending up with a case of Bali Belly.
Other colourful names for travellers' diarrhoea include Montezuma's Revenge, Trotsky's, Gastro and Delhi Belly!
Travelan is a caplet that should be taken prior to each meal to prevent a runny tummy. I did forget a few times and I must add that not once did I rumble in the jungle while in Malaysia.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: If you just have a stopover in Kuala Lumpur and just spend the day in the city, as I did, it is essential that you have a change of clothes in your hand luggage.
You will sweat like crazy in the city, so be prepared.
Best is to take one or two of those breathable sports jerseys with you, as they transport the sweat to the outside and keep you relatively dry. Some fabrics even cool you when it is hot, and warm you when it is cold.
My jeans felt very hot - but I wanted to be dressed appropriately in mosques and similar places. Now as I know that they give you cloths you can wrap around your waist in such places I opt for lighter trousers or a skirt... Fresh underwear and socks is clear, isn't?
Also make sure you have a pair of slippers or sandals, so you do not have to suffer in hiking boots the whole day.
After your excursion you can (better: have to...) take a shower at the airport and wash the sweat and stink away, and only then change back into dry clothes. You will feel like new :-)
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Only the essentials you would need to refresh yourself at the airport anyway.
When you take a shower at the airport (wonderful!) before leaving you get shampoo and bodywash, so no need to fill up your bag with such things.

Luggage and bags: Travellers intent on doing some shopping in KL should pack very lightly. Shopping is excellent in KL and very cheap. I recommend going there with your bare essentials if you can. Buy suitcases if you have to while you're in KL to bring your shopping home. Suitcases are cheap enough to purchase too. I took only a backpack and came back laden with goodies in a suitcase.
Photo Equipment: Bring a cheap camera if you can. My expensive camera was stuffed up by the high humidity in Malaysia.

Luggage and bags: Basically, same thing when you travel everywhere, you'll bring a comfortable bag or a bigger bag bec. you have to make allowance for the souvenir /memento items you'll gonna bring home.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: kuala lumpur is a tropical country so the weather is typically hot.wear comfy tshirts and pants, comfortable walking shoes.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: if your'e not into spicy foods, bring medicine for anti-diarrhea(loperamide medicines) for your stomach safety.
Photo Equipment: bring a good camera, best if it comes with a tripod
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: don't forget to bring cap/hat/foldable umbrella esp.if you tour around during daytime
Miscellaneous: like me, our electrical outlet in our country is different so, don't forget to bring an adaptor(g-type) for charging of digi cams, cellfones, computer, etc esp. if you sttay in a 3 star hotel.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Umbrella for travelling anywhere in Malaysia. It can be hot (30'C), and it can rain. So it serves dual purposes.
Miscellaneous: I would say right now...it's terribly hot in the early afternoon (that is from 10am to 3.30pm; approximately); then it rains cats and dogs from 4.00pm to 7.00pm.
Normally after a hot, humid day, it will rain at night.
The monsoon coming from the Straits of Melaka is from April to September while the monsoon from the South China Sea is from November to March.
We would be experiencing the Sraits of Melaka monsoon.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Malaysia is a Muslim country,
with many visitors from the Middle East.
If you are a female traveler traveling solo,
to keep the stares and maybe even stalkers away,
it best that you pack clothing that cover your legs.
Short shorts, tight dresses, or mini skirts,
may bring on some uncomfort.

Luggage and bags: If you need to have your luggage transported back to your home country by air, you can have it done thru Abda, an international baggage handling company operating from KLIA and Penang International Airport... The service covers baggage transfer door to door, airport to door as well as city centre to door...

Luggage and bags: You can always pick up extra luggage in Chinatown if you need it.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: You must, must must, bring clothes that are comfortable and suited for hot and humid weather. Change socks/underwear multiple times a day--if needed. Wear sneakers because you will probably walk a lot. I saw a lot of locals wearing sandals and I don't know how they did it on their sidewalks. I slipped every time I wore sandals. If you are an uncommon size, it's best to bring all of your own clothes. Asians are smaller people than most Americans.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Handsanitizer and personal wipes. Keep your hands clean. I got a cut on my finger and then got a nasty infection. Most toilets in the city do not have tp. Finding toiletries and medical supplies in KL is fairly easy. I just think you should have these two on hand.
Photo Equipment: Bring extra batteries with you or your charger. Finding AA at a good price is hard.
Miscellaneous: If you can fit it in your luggage and you have enough weight allotment, bring some bottled water and some protein bars. That way you do not have to search for water when you first get in, and you have something to eat in case everything grosses you out.

Luggage and bags: .
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: This tip is especially important to all the women travelers out there!! Take this tip to heart because I learned the hard way and no one gave me any advice.
At all costs... keep yourself dry in your unmentionable areas. This is extremely hard to do, but be diligent and do the best that you can. Wear cotton undies, loose fitting pants/shorts/capris/skirt. Change undies multiple times a day if necessary. Use powder. Heck, use the blow dryer to make sure you are dry. I know this sounds ridiculous, but take my word for it. When you are not used to a hot and humid climate, your body freaks out in many ways. Trust me, you do not want an infection in this area. I repeat: YOU DO NOT WANT AN INFECTION IN THIS AREA! It's painful, it's embarassing, and it puts a big damper on your trip.
Like I said, I had to learn the hard way.
