Another 'must-eat' in Kuala Lumpur is the Asam Laksa (no English translation available). Asam denotes something that is sweet, spicy and sour at the same time, thus sending your taste buds to heaven first and then hell later when the chilies strike. Laksa simply means that the dish is noodle-based with a soup background, often spicy. The noodles in Asam Laksa are slender white cylindrical noodles and the soup is basically a deep red broth filled with sardines, pineapples for the added itchy twang, and onions for the anti-social breath. Another must try is the Curry Laksa, brother of the Asam Laksa. The Curry Laksa is self explanatory. Very spicy and the soup is creamy due to the coconut milk (hence loose-poo caution applies for the weaker ones). Filled with Taupok (dried bean curd) which functions as a sponge in the dish. Being porous, the Taupok soaks up the hot soup and like an M&M chocolate, does its magic when you chew on it. Both Asam and Curry Laksa are available at most coffee shops in KL. Pau or Pow is our local foods but originated from China. Today the Malay Muslims also have their pow of halal. Pow is very handy to eat, good as fast foods and budget as well. Cost less than a ringgit each but depends on sizes. If you take Miss Yip's Big Pau is RM3 plus. Normal Pows are below that price such as Meat-Pow, Vegetarian-Pow, Bean-Pow and many more to choose. What you see in the photo are two average sized of Pows. Eaten best with hot Chinese tea. Leave a Comment |
This Restaurant is my fav. Few outlets but this one is in Petaling Jaya. The food is basically fish based and yummers.. u had it once im sure u'll beg for more. The price is reasonable too..
Alrighty in teh photo as you can see, the middle would be the clear soup with fishballs inside this is a dish for 2 anyway, then from a plate of Fish (Asam) yummers - a bit spicy but delicious, you have lettuce as the veg serves together but paid separately eh, and of coz fried stuffs (bare in mind- no matter what it is all fish) - i love foocok - longish kinda like fried sausage kinda thingy there, and for a drink u can choose - chryst. tea, sugarcane, or soya bean , they also have chinese tea. Yong Tau Foo is very special foods in indivdual characters. Each one is a character by itself but to put together to eat in hot soup. You can add Kuey-teow or rice to eat as main dish or just enjoy the YTF. YTF is a food made of fish meat, it is to cut a hole in the Tau-Foo and then insert some fish meat into. Other than Tau-Foo, many choices in bitter gourd, fried Tau-Foo, lady's finger, brinjal, dumpling, etc. YTF needs to eat with good chili sauce and sweet sauce. Chopsticks or fork spoon both welcome. Great, cheap food, which you can pick from various different stalls. For example delicious chicken skewers and spring rolls. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: Lot 10 shopping centre, Jalan Bukit Bintang |
This is one of the best to eat when you go for shopping in the modern shopping malls or complexes. One plate of this cost you less than RM5. Taste good, eat with chopsticks not by fingers. Leave a Comment |
