You canno't miss the Chinatown restaurant in the streets.
You can eat some of the most delicious chinese dish.... Nothing special but the ambiance and the plainness give you a different taste

After arriving in KL from Manila, we went directly to jalan alor (hawker place). This place is very convenient and cheap and open till 2AM. We are searching for a place to eat and an old chinese man upsell his restaurant and give it a shot to try their food. THe place is just average but the service and the food is excellent. The owner even chat with us and tried to speak in Filipino. The food only cost us around RM25 for three person (very cheap!!). Since this is a chinese owned restaurant, they offer also pork on their menu.

Spicy Squid, Sweet and Sour Pork and Nasi Goreng. All of this 3 food are great, very tasty. Its my first time to eat Nasi Goreng and gave me a good impression about food in KL. We had a malaysia's very own Tiger Beer to complete our late dinner.

When it comes to dim sum, you can go to many places in KL to enjoy this traditional Chinese breakfast or snack. As for me, my favourite place for these yummy dishes would be in Petaling Jaya SS2.

There are many choices of dim sum, congee, meat buns and savoury cakes to indulge in. If you go to a fancy restaurant, it will cost you a bomb. Chinese restaturant franchise or fancy chinese restaurants in hotels will serve up good quality dim but some of these restaurants are halal meaning the dishes will not have any pork and Muslims are able to patronise them.

If you want to try good & reasonably priced dim sum (US$1 per plate), go to the local Chinese cafes or kopitiam. As for me, I'll always go for the non-halal ones because it's more authentic :)

I have many favourites : from steam meat buns (char siew pao), congee and the many selection of meat dishes

This is my all time favorite supper. Its egg noodles fried in dark soy sauce with veges and lots of other stuff. This is a must try.I've got a friend in Perth who loves this very very much. Sorry about the bad pic, my mom dug into it(as you can see her with her full bowl of mee) before i could snap a shot.

Yum yum, don't miss out on this when you are in Petaling Street. These are chinese buns and cookies, very very yummy. Good to buy some to snack while you shop in Petaling Street.

I like the one with some sweetish glutonious rice in the middle( in picture, top row far left), and those round balls with sesame and red bean paste filling in them.

One of my fave satay at Malaysia is at Jalan Alor. Since I can order half chicken and half meat, asking to be grilled medium [sweet and juicy uhmmmmm ....] and no need peanut sauce.

Street vendors and hawkers: Definitely not your dad's hawker market!

the Lot 10 Hawker Centre is tucked beneath the Lot 10 complex by Isetan across from Bukit Bintang. it's one of 14 different stalls, each featuring a specific food category and you'll find char kway teow in the Fried Noodles/Lobak area. and no, this definitely isn't your dad's hawker market. for one, it's open all day long and closes rather early at 9 pm! it's indoors and underground, swathed in neon orange and dull browns with a minimalist sorta feel.

char kway teow isn't a diet dish. it's quite the opposite of atkins and i've yet to find one person that considers it healthy. it's made with rice noodles, fat and flat, just like the ones used for thai rad na. but that's where the similarities end. it's definitely not soupy. it's fried, almost charred...with perfectly unovercooked morsels of mussels, shrimp and squid. it's served to you piping hot, fresh from the wok. you take 2 condiments served in their own miniature bowls: a heap of sauteed garlic and a mountain of red chillies drowned in a soy-like sauce. you throw both at your pile of steaming noodles, you dig in and then you're in heaven...for roughly around 4 ringgits which translates to but 1 US dollar.

This place cook your orders right in front of you! Great to watch them pan-fry your food for you.

Hmmm try their teppanyaki dishes, either beef, chicken, squids or salmon fish. There are also side orders like sukiyaki(noodle in a hot pot) and california roll.

Don't miss this. It might look shabby, but it's very good. And cheap! There's local food, but Chinese, Indian and Thai food is also widely available.
