Street vendors and hawkers: Pig's Innards Soup
yipsufen profile photo
yipsufen 651 reviews

This 30-year-old stall offers delicious pig's innards soup which is hard to find in Kuala Lumpur. The stall offers fresh pig's heart, tongue, stomach, blood, streaky pork and organs. The ingredients for its signature pig's innards soup are cooked in a midly spicy pepper soup till they become tenderly soft. Customers can fully experience the taste of this great dish when servied with pickled vegetables and rice.

RM5 onwards for single serving excluding rice.
Opening hours: 5:30pm to 10:30pm. Closed on Mondays.

Favorite Dish: Eat the innards dip with some chilli paste, eat a mouthful of rice then sip a spoonful of soup. Wow... what a hearty meal ! Since the soup is boiled with pepper and pickled vegetables, you don't taste the foul smell of pig innards. Order a extra portion of particular innards if you like it. You can also order some fish or chicken porridge or chicken meat from the neighbouring stall, which is also very popular to the local.

Many public buses are stopping and parking near to the stall, so you will find it somewhat polluting to your food. Many of the old shops in front have been demolished to make way for new development. I hope this stall will not disappear with time.

Soong Kee Restaurant: Beef Noodle

Well-established for over 60 years in Kuala Lumpur, Soong Kee is famous for its delicious beef noodle and beef ball. Fresh casserole beef is cooked for 3 hours till it becomes tender. Fully experience the unbelievable taste when served with stir-fried minced beef in sauce. Don't forget to try the eatery's handmade beef balls. The sourish chilli sauce is specially made to complement the noodle. Many of their loyal customers have patronised this restaurant for three generations.

During my high school time, I always had my lunch at this restaurant after visiting bookshop. Eventhough the portion seems to have shrunken but the quality still preserves. I was first introduced to this eatery by my parents and I have remained loyal until now. If this shop is still around in the future, I will definitely bring my next generation here :P

Opening hours: 11am to 12am. Closed on Sundays & public holidays

Favorite Dish: Beef noodle RM4
Beef innards RM5
Beef balls RM5

The Beef noodles here, with a flavourful beef and herb stock, are definitely among the best in town. Flavoured with chopped preserved vegetables, the soup packs quite a punch. must try !

Firty - year - old Koon Kee is synonomous with Wantan Noodles in this part of town. The Home -made egg noodles here are known for their springy texture; they served with various toppings. Overall, the food here is very nice .

Many people head to this back alley in cul-de-sac in the evenings for Hokkien mee . the stall has run their business since 1946. The Hokkien mee is delicious and the tasty noodles do not have any alkaline aftertaste .

Grilled Seafood ( Stingray + Squid )

T o find this outlet , follow the smoke from the grill. If your nose dosen't pick up on it . just spot the long queue after 6pm - the norm for the past 15 years. On the grill aluminium foil packets filled with seafood . However, the seafood is very fresh, and price are reasonable .

Best Longan drink in KL!

If you are ever in Chinatown, don't miss the chance to try this famous 'Air Mata Kucing' (Longan + LohHanKo Drink). This is the best Longan drink that I have ever had. The ingredients are: dried longan, Loh Han Go, winter melon, rock sugar. It is so good especially on a hot day.

RM1.2 - Small
RM1.5 - Large
RM1.5 - without ice

By the way, they also opened a branch on Lower Level of Mid Valley Megamall.
