What I love most about KL is growing up seeping these colourful drinks where you almost can get them around KL ! They have names, you know ! Just like everything in life... From the left : Black colour, called Chin-ciao... White colour with lots of green worm-like things in it is called Chen-doll... Pinky drink (my favourite !) is called Bahn-Doong... White drink again, called Sohyah. Well, soya bean drinks to most of y'all....

  • Tip Rating:
  • We didn't eat in any restaurants as we tended to just buy something from a hawker stall whenever we got slightly hungry. There are all sorts of stalls and roadside eateries, so where ever you are you can usually get something really cheap and tasty! Although we did get a lunch in the KL Twin Towers shopping centre food hall. It had loads of choice was fairly cheap (not as cheap as the Hawker stalls)and the food was good.

Street vendors and hawkers: Hawker stalls in Kuala Lumpur...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Hawker stalls in Kuala Lumpur are a great way to eat. These are outdoor food stands that are located all over the city, sometimes in big groups that allow for a great multi-course meal, all from different vendors. You can get all kinds of Asian food at these stands, from Indian to Chinese to Malay, not to mention the ubiquitous fresh-squeezed limeade. Sure, everyone tells you not to eat street food or you'll get sick, but don't pay attention to them. This food is great!

Malaysian cuisine is extremely diverse. Each racial group has contributed to the great Malaysian gastronomic heritage.

ROTI - my favourite all-time breakfast. I love the Plain Roti without egg... 2 pieces eating here please! Hmmm... yummy!!!

Street vendors and hawkers: Forget the restaurant...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Forget the restaurant.......hawker stalls is the way to go in order to enjoy the real Malaysian food. An average Malaysian worker will eat at least 3 to 4 lunches a week at hawker stalls. Restaurants are normally meant for special occassions or entertaining of guests. Price are reasonable - if you are really hungry, two of you might need a max of US$10 (RM38) per meal......I am sure an average Malaysian will find this a huge meal for a lot of us. For comparison purpose, you can actually get 10 plates of chicken price for this budget.

Rice and noodles are our main diet. Available in many ways of preparation - stir fry or with soup, hot and spicy or just plain, served with a wide variety of side dishes. You got to see it to appreciate it.

  • Tip Rating:
  • China town is famous during the day but at night start a new life.. Every free space is taken to serve food . Personally i did eat the best food on the street at night. After a good meal and feel all the charm of the people you can walk and watch for the bargain . You can see hundred of small dealer on the street , you have to bargain every items.. about 40% less than the first price given by the dealer. If you go more than once they will recognise you and give you special attention. you would love it.

Although the chicken rice at Kai Yong can be slightly dry, the chicken meat is firm and tender. Chicken gizzard, liver and intestines are also available. The chilli dipping sauce is very good and has a nice balance of spice and vinegar . service are prompt . must try !

Another Wantan Noodle stall has been around 40 years. this one has its own loyal clientele. Besides the usual barbecue pork or shredded chicken toppings. the stall also offers a dry curry version of wantan noodles.
