Street vendors and hawkers: Koon Kee ( Petaling Street )
  • Satisfaction:
  • Firty - year - old Koon Kee is synonomous with Wantan Noodles in this part of town. The Home -made egg noodles here are known for their springy texture; they served with various toppings. Overall, the food here is very nice .

Street vendors and hawkers: Lien Bee Hokkien Mee ( Petaling Street )
  • Satisfaction:
  • Many people head to this back alley in cul-de-sac in the evenings for Hokkien mee . the stall has run their business since 1946. The Hokkien mee is delicious and the tasty noodles do not have any alkaline aftertaste .

Served in an old - fashion clay bowl. the meats are tender and well-infused with the herbal stock. service is prompt. incidentally the stall is known as ' tai hau chai ' , which translates into ' boy with a big mouth ' !

The Beef noodles here, with a flavourful beef and herb stock, are definitely among the best in town. Flavoured with chopped preserved vegetables, the soup packs quite a punch. must try !

No English sign, no menu in any language, and a kitchen you really don't want to look into - but it packs the crowds for its famous hokkien mee ( fried noodles in dark sauce, RM5 ). Wash it down with a RM1 mug of cooling liang teh and soak in the busy market ambience.

Street vendors and hawkers: Goreng Pisang Stall
Check out the piping hot fried banana when you're in town. Its delicious and it wipes out those late afternoon hunger pangs. Its good with coffee or tea or anything you wish to quench your thirst with. Usually priced at RM1.00 for 3 pieces. Theres 2 types, the sweet ones or the slightly sour fried banana - they are both good but i recommend you try the sweet ones first. You could also have it with vanilla ice cream. Other variations to this are.. eaten with chili soy sauce, cheese or sugar.

Street vendors and hawkers: Street Stalls
I highly recommend eating from the street stalls and tiny corner cafes in KL and throughout Malaysia. Not only is it cheaper than restaurants, the food is generally great. Just look for someplace that's crowded with locals and you're sure to get a great meal!

Street vendors and hawkers: Chines Foodstalls
Jalan Alor is pretty dull during daytime. It's possible to get something to eat but there are not many people around. In the evening around 7pm the place is lively and animated. All along Jalan Alor there are foodstalls full of people eating tasty Chinese dishes. Jalan Alor runs parallel to Jalan Bukit Bintang

T o find this outlet , follow the smoke from the grill. If your nose dosen't pick up on it . just spot the long queue after 6pm - the norm for the past 15 years. On the grill aluminium foil packets filled with seafood . However, the seafood is very fresh, and price are reasonable .
