Bukit Bintang: Non stop shopping

Here is a variety of shopping malls here in KL and they all great. The Bukit Bintang area is always busy as they have a large variety of shopping malls which all close late. Some of the shops you can go and bargain with some of the people there so don`t just accept the price on the goods you might just get a discount if you ask , you`ll no where and where not to bargain depending on the store. There is LOT 10 , BB PLaza , Low Yat and Time Square just to name a few. Time Square is huge I must tell you. Its really something. I think it would take you a very long time to visit all the stores there. What I like about the mall is that it got a theme park inside the mall with a rollercoster and other rides. Malaysia is like shoppers Paradise ;0P

Anything , there is a large variety of things.

Don`t forget to Bargain where you can. I does`nt hurt to try ;0)

Digi Centre: Prepaid Cellphone Simcards - Digi
  • Tip Rating:
  • There is a Digi Centre at KL Plaza (the entrance has a Coffee Bean at the front). KL Plaza is located on Bukit Bintang between the Marriot Hotel and Lot 10. Just look for the Coffee Bean Café and that’s KL Plaza. The Digi Centre is on the ground floor on the left as you walk in.

It’s a good idea to take a GSM / Vodafone cellphone with you and buy a prepaid simcard on your first day. Much cheaper than roaming. Text messages are only 1 sen per message and to call locally is 30sen a minute – it’s just ridiculous pricing. So you can stay in touch with home very cheaply. I changed my NZ cellphone voicemail to say I am on holiday in Malaysia and my new number is …… gave my Digi number so no more roaming charges.

The prepaid simcard costs 18RM with 10RM worth of talktime credit.

    Avenue K: Avenue K
  • Tip Rating:
  • Newly opened in year 2005, I saw Gucci and some other new stuffs, quick, go to Avenue K to grab anything you want. Avenue K is located face to face with KLCC Petronas Twin Towers, is only seperated by a road. After you get bored with KLCC, you can walk across the road to explore Avenue K.

Mid Valley Megamall: Mid Valley Megamall
  • Tip Rating:
  • A heaven for women but for me only the bookstore of MPH and the computer section are belong to me. I like Esquire Kitchen too and the halal Wantan Mee at the food court on the top floor.

For women, try Zara, Metrojaya, MNG and many others.

    Lot 10: Shop Shop Shop!!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Bukit Bintang(StarHill) is KL's most popular shopping area. Great place for people watching or shopping. There are a few shopping complex in this area. If you are looking for designer labels, head for StarHill/ Lot 10, if its cheap souvenier and nice affordable clothes, go to Sungai Wang.

Some clothes are much cheaper here. Sungai Wang and Imbi Plaza is a great place to buy electrical items(discman, latest handphones, camera). If you shop in those little booths in the complex, remember to bargain, there might be a `second` cheaper price. Dont over do it though, you cant bargain that much from the original price( not like in hongkong and china where the `second` price goes as low as 50%)

If you are living around China Town or even somewherelse you must visit this store to make purchases on wholesale prices. You will find everything in this store. The prices are surprisingly the lowest in KL. It is located near China Town towards Pudaraya Bus Terminal and very prominent to find. I observed lots of locals making purchases probably they are aware of the low prices.

    Almost every thing
