Batu Caves is a famous tourist destination especially during Thaipusam festival. This event attracts many devotees and spectators who come to watch devotees in a trance carrying kavadi, a metal frame attached to the body. There are also milk kavadi. Oh and you have to climb steep flight of 272 steps to reach the top. I took the taxi from Petronas tower to Batu Caves and it cost us RM12.00 but the return journey from Batu Caves to Hard Rock Cafe was around RM16.00. Make sure the taxi drivers use meters. The 88-storey Petronas Twin Towers was designed by Cesar Pelli and Associates is the Petronas Corporate Headquarters was completed in 1997. The towers are joined at the 41st and 42nd floors (175m above street level) by a 192 ft-long (58.4 m) double-decker Sky Bridge. The 1,483 ft (451.9 m), was one of the world's tallest buildings in the world. The sky bridge tour is nice as you can see some of the buildings from there but the best view of KL can be view from KL Tower. The 10 minutes tour takes you to the bridge and sees the view from the top. Remember to get there early morning and line up for the pass for the bridge tour. I once waited from 7:30am to get the pass for some friends and we got our pass for 9am tour. Even if you are in line at 9am it also depends on the amount of tourist in-front of you sometime your tour can be for the afternoon. The tour is free so get there early to get your pass. The Sky Bridge is opened from 9:00am to 5:00pm from Tuesdays to Sunday and closed on Monday unless its a Public holiday. Leave a Comment

Chinatown by stellz20 A must for any tourist. PETALING STREET - The heart of Kuala Lumpur's original CHINATOWN and a bustling night market serving as a bargain hunter's paradise and one of the premier shopping areas in the city with its distinctly oriental atmosphere. Petaling Street maintains much of its traditional atmosphere, particularly at night when vendors spread their wares out on the street. While it is possible to purchase anything from gems and incense to toys and t-shirts here, enjoying the night market is really a matter of just wandering about and enjoying its sights, sounds, and energy. Incredible bargains amidst a melange of signs, shops, noise and roadside food stalls open until the wee hours of the morning. My Visit: We were at Petaling street for a night market at around 7pm and surprisingly for me, the sun is still up. We were able to buy lots of Malaysian delicacies to take back home, and some souvenir items as well. I suggest you master the "art of haggling" when visiting to Chinatown since a lot of vendors tend to double even triple their price so beware. Be cautious with your belongings too since the street tends to get crowded and snatchers might just be around. Leave a Comment Address: Jalan Petaling Chinatown

National History Myseum by mansionion The National History Museum is housed in this historical building which was formerly occupied by the Standard Chartered Bank during the colonial days. The museum exhibits important collections of Malaysian history under one roof. Among the important items exhibited here are a table used for the signing of the 1874 Pangkor Treaty that leads to the British interference in the administration of the Malay states and also the First Federation of Malaya flag which was raised after the Union Jack flag was lowered in signaling the independence of the Malay states on the night of August 31, 1957. Besides having impressive collections, the architecture of this museum also displays unique features based on its Moorish architecture circa 1800s. Located right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur and surrounded by many monuments and historical buildings make it all the more accessible and nostalgic to visit. Leave a Comment

The Train Station by gnh Moorish architecture, that's what they call this famous looking train station of Kuala Lumpur. Perhaps the only attractive thing about the train station is the look, as the trains themselves are a great disapointment - old dilapidated, frequent delays, slow-moving and of course NOISY. Don't look into the toilets yet ! They were horrible the last time I took the train ( 30 years ? ) but maybe now they're better -- keep me informed if you can. Leave a Comment

Menara KL located at Bukit Nanas is 421 meters is the 4th tallest telecommunication tower in the world. On a clear day you can see as far a Genting Highlands. The glass shape diamonds arranged according to the form of the traditional Islamic 'Muqarnas' can be seen at the lobby entrance and lift lobby area. This is really beautiful. This tower was completed in 1996. I have the opportunity to see it while it was being built and it was wonderful. We took the lift to the restaurant and then the stair to the observations area and outside to the telecommunication antenna area. But now only the Observations deck and revolving restaurant are open for public. Open daily from 10am-10pm Admission fee: RM8 (Adults) / RM3 (Children 4-12years) Leave a Comment Address: No 2, Jalan Punchak, Off Jalan P RamleePhone: 603 2020 5446Directions: The nearest PUTRA LRT station to Kuala Lumpur Tower is the Dang Wangi station or take the KL Monorail and disembark at Bukit Nenas station. Then you have to walk up or shuttle bus from bottom of the hill that will bring you up.Website: http://www.menarakl.com.my

Merdeka means Independence and this is the place on 31 August 1957 Malaysia got its Independent. There is a 100 meter high flagpole that flies the Malaysian flag proudly. This is still the venue for the National Day parade. Beneath the square there is a food, leisure and entertainment complex called Plaza Putra and a car park too. There is a fountain and a small garden area too. Leave a Comment Address: Merdeka Square, Jalan RajaDirections: 10 minutes walk from Masjid Jamek LRT Station.
