Batu Caves by iris_e Some people would say it's not worth it to climb up. But I say it's still an experience. Batu Caves from afar is impressive already. When you get there, you'll see a big sign saying "Beware of Monkeys". Fine, there are a lot of monkeys around. But they don't really do much but mind their own business if you don't provoke them (and please don't carry around food that's visible to them- they do get hungry and they probably like human food). What's up there? Ok, so maybe the place needs some improvement. There is vandalism (but not many). Presently, they're constructing a big monument in front of the stairs and some other construction by the caves, so these may be an eyesore. Still, it's worth a visit. Find the old woman in robe with very very long hair sitting by the caves and meditating (or I dunno what she's doing). Take in the view of the altars. Be captivated by the cave walls and stalagmites. It's still an experience. Plus, it's free. A man offers pictures for RM5-10 with his pet Iguana; a photo with the animal and the caves as background isn't bad at all. How I got there: We took a cab from our hotel (MiCasa at Jalan Tun Razak) and the fare's about RM15++. Going back to KL is no problem. Right outside the Batu Cave entrance is a Bus Station. Take Bus No. 69 for RM2.00 per person. The last stop of the bus is at Central Market in KL. Leave a Comment Directions: 13km north of Kuala Lumpur

by lenardt Yers, when in KL you must vist the Batu Cave. Well having done it I can say that 'I have visited Batu Caves' but all I saw was some dirty caves with religious paintings and statues places randomly around the place with a foul smell and dirty monkeys. As you may have guest my visit to the caves didn't impress me but then again I am not Hindu. The highlight was the realisation that my wife and I could actually reached the top of the 272 steps and take photo's of it. Worth a visit to say you have been there but unless you are VERY religious don't expect too much Phone: +60 3 2287 9422Directions: 13km north of Kuala Lumpur

The hill is in shape of Indian holy elephant. We have to climb many stairs for reaching the caves. There are a lot of colorful statues of Hindu gods and goddess and small temples in the dark caves with mysterious atmosphere. Some monkeys walk and run a lot...and they are feeded too much. Personally the place doesn't attract me too much. It's pretty "strange" and really "too stinky" (smell of animals' ***)!!! P.S. Thinking about the bad air there makes me want to vomit... I promise that I will never go back there. A new experience once was enough. Leave a Comment Phone: +60 3 2287 9422Directions: 13km north of Kuala Lumpur

BatuCaves by xuessium Climb the 200+ steps into Batu Caves, where in the heart of it all, lies a small Hindu temple. See the many colourful statues of Hindu deities adorning the walls of the caves. Come Thaipusam, a Hindu festival where devotees wear bodygears called Kavadees pierced under their naked skin, the temple becomes an epicentre of Hindu faith, and the caves will be thronged with thousands of worshippers. It would be a sight to behold! (Disclaimer: I have never arrived here by public bus) How to get here by bus: The RapidKL buses do reach Batu Caves. There are a number of services from several points. Taxi should cost you between MYR15-20 one way from the City.

Batu caves by mvtouring One of the definate must sees in KL is the Batu Caves and the Hindu Temple at the top. First time I saw this was on Discovery Channel when they showed some Hindu festival which really intrigued me. Anne and I decided to go up to the temple, got halfway decided to look back and nearly froze .... when you look at the pic it seems like the stairs are fairly flat, they are not, .... they are as steep as hel! We retracted immediately before one of us was going to go into freeze mode due to the height. Leave a Comment Phone: +60 3 2287 9422Directions: 13km north of Kuala Lumpur

by lmkluque Unfortunately I was too weak to ascend the stairs the day we visited the Batu Caves, but if you haven't such a problem it's something to see. Leave a Comment

by asantetravel Batu Caves. The stairs are fairly easy to climb but beware of the monkeys running up and down the railings (note: be care with plastic bags, a monkey followed me a little to long as I descended, he thought I had food). The limestone surroundings are hmm… a site. There is no admission fee (which was heaven for me after spending the summer in Kyoto visiting temples with fees that add up very quickly). Leave a Comment Directions: There are many spots to catch the bus (35 min. ride) to Batu Caves. I got on at a bank near the old wet market – Central Market. The bus ride was not very interesting though the people riding the busOther Contact: Don’t forget to visit the gift s
