Churches, Temples & Mosques: Let the dreagon fly!
Chinese new year ballons at Thean Hou Temple - Kuala Lumpur

The Chinese buddhist Thean Hou Temple is located at the Robson Heights and was built in order to honour the Goddess Tian Hou (the heavenly mother). I was especially inpressed by those many dreagons to be found in the spectacular and colourful decorations of the temple. If you are interested in the Chinese zodiac, don't miss the statues of those animals (a popular photo spot, by the way). Many Chinese couples use the temple for their wedding ceremony. During Chinese new year, the temple is decorated with thousands of red ballons - looks great! Thean Hou Temple is open every day from 8 pm to 9 pm.

Churches, Temples & Mosques: Kwong Siew Temple
The land for this temple was donated by Chiew Yoke Weng in 1898. This temple is constructed in the traditional Chinese architectural design. There a Kuang Tai statute in the middle and some gods and goddesses status too.

Churches, Temples & Mosques: THE MAIN MOSQUE IN KL
The main mosque in KL is open at various times to visitors. (They close to the public at various times for religious reasons.) You have to remove your footware to enter, but you are welcome to go in, wander around, the only restriction is that you do not disturb the faithful in prayer. In a lower level is the islamic school which you can look down into. The grounds are very tranquil, very serene and peacefull. Its a haven in a very busy city. Recomended for a visit.

Churches, Temples & Mosques: KL's oldest mosque: Masjid Jamek
The mosque was built in 1909 and features graceful arches and domes, creating a startling contrast against the backdrop of the city's skyscrapers. Located where the Klang and Gombak Rivers meet, the mosque is open to the public. However, visitors must be appropriately attired, especially the ladies.

Churches, Temples & Mosques: Masjid Jamek
The perfect color coordinates of white domes and green palm trees. It is beautiful against the blue sky. Red brick walls make a lasting impression. Muslims pray here every Friday.

Thean Hou Buddhist Temple is said to be the largest Buddhist temple. It is also near the Mid-Valley shopping centre. It is worth a visit for Buddhist. It is also a good spot to go for taking pictures.

Churches, Temples & Mosques: Thean Hou
Took a while for us to find it and yes once we got there we didn't really know how to get back to the city centre again but it was definatly worth the dodgy bus ride with lots of scarey people. Thean Hou is huge and best seen at night when it's all light up by millions of fairy lights. You could nose into virtually every nook and cranny and explore everywhere in the temple. We were fortunate to stumble across some sort of celebration and saw a performance of chinese dragons. The views of KL from Thean Hou were amazing too. Don't forget to make your wish and receive your fortune.
