Claim the area as “City in the Clouds”, the city also knowns as “City of Entertainment”. Genting Highland becomes a busy spot when weekends come. And even six hotels with more than 7000 rooms are fully occupied in holiday season. My visit to Genting is the same time when school holiday started. The huge lobby area is packed with people from all over the regions and also many tour groups, where the guides seem desperate to look for their tour members. Sitting in row of benches, waiting for your que number for check in to arrive has became one of the unforgettable parts of the visit to Genting. Yes, the size of this area has made Genting entitled to be called as city. Due to the location in the highland, the area is often foggy, and this is one of the reasons why the city is called City in the Clouds. The whole area is wide range of entertainment and it purposes to make people feel as they live in their own childhood phantasy of “fun land”. Adults can satisfy themselves and try their luck in the casinos. Women can still enjoy the luxury of shopping. Children would love this place for its different kind of merry rides and theme park. Family can enjoy the sky lift to see aerial scenery of Genting. You can opt for go around city by walking or board into trem. Both are fun. The joy of daylight changes its scene when the dark comes. Dressed up people head to bars , clubs, discos and karaoke, or…back to casinos to finish the unfinished business. Not fancy nightlife scene? Bowling, cinema, theater, massage and hair salon are also available. It’s a truly fun land concept. Leave a Comment

We took a mini van up to the Genting Highlands then a cable car which only cost $8.00 aust return through the jungle and up to the resort and spent half a day there although we could of spent two full days! The resort consisted of a hotel, casino an indoor and outdoor theme park! We didn't have any time to go to the outside theme park except for having a look at it however we enjoyed a yummy lunch and spent most of the time in the hotel and indoor theme park! Be warned that it is cooler in the genting highands, so be sure to wear pants or a light jumper! Leave a Comment

You will love this place, it's almost one hour drive using the bus from KL. At the base you can take uphill trip using the "Skyway" cable car you will feel like trekking in the jungles and as you move up your suspense and excitment increase. At the top you will feel like you are in a different place away from the whole world. The landscape from top is fascinating and the mixture of mountains, fogs and greenery is amazing. The weather is a bit cooler but bearable, you can bring some heavy cloths if you wish. There are different things you can do up there: 1) Trying the inside theme park, most of the games are suitable for kids 2) Trying the outdoor theme park, lots of thrilling and adventureous games ranging between roller coasters to water games. 3) Shopping, lots of garments, optics, and souvenir shops 4) Restaurants and cafe shops 5) Live shows, especially the H2O water show. However if you are planning to see any of these shows you have to stay up to 9:0 PM this when the show starts. This is tricky because the last bus leaves at 7:0 or 8:0 PM I guess. And I think they made it on purpose so that you are forced to stay the night at one of the hotels there, unless you want to take a private cab. But don't worry the room rates are very affordable. 6) Panoramatic view from the top and a gallery about the resort. I would advise you to take a look at their website to get more details ... The fun never seems to stop at Genting — City of Entertainment, perched on the top of Genting Highlands, and reached by road or cable car. There is a choice of outdoor or indoor theme parks, indoor splash pool with warm water, or outdoor waterpark. In the evening, there is spectacular entertainment at the Genting International Showroom or Pavilion, be it a thrilling magic show or an ice-skating extravaganza, shopping at newly opened First World Plaza, games, and feasting on a wide range of delicious food. Over 30 rides can be enjoyed in the Outdoor Theme Park. Thrill-seekers will want to try all four roller coaster rides — the double loop Corkscrew, Rolling Thunder Mine Train, Cyclone and Flying Dragon. The daring ones will also want to ride the Spinner Flying Carousel, the Super Toboggan, and the intense Turbo Drop that drops riders 185 feet down in the air and then instantly shoots them upwards. On the Sungai Rejang Flume Ride and at the Genting Splash, the only waterpark experience available at 6,000 feet (2,000 metres) above sea level, be prepared to get wet. It’s part of’ the fun! There are children’s rides and famiIy rides including the Monorail and Theme Park Skyway cable cars. Younger children will enjoy rides such as the Flying Baby Jumbo, Teacup, Pirate Train, Rodeo Rider and Astro Fighter. In the Indoor Theme Park are three more thrill rides - Space Odyssey, Disco Bumper and the Motion Master Simulator that maneuvers around sharp turns and dives into deep gorges, and a rich variety of skill games and video games that can be enjoyed until late at night. GETTING THERE: About 45 minutes drive from Kuala Lumpur via the Karak Highway. Kuala Lumpur-Genting taxis are available from the Puduraya Bus Station in Kuala Lumpur. The Kuala Lumpur-Genting direct coach service is available from KL Sentral, Jalan Duta Coach Station. Puduraya and Gombak LRT Station Opening hours: Outdoor Park = Weekdays - 10am to 6pm Weekends - 8am to 8pm Indoor Park and First World Plaza rides - Daily 8am to 12midnight.

One of the favorite destinations in Malaysia is a half day drive from Kuala Lumpur - the Genting Highlands. It is located in the State of Pahang where there is royal assent to allow an international casino to build in this the highland region. So over the years, hotels and an indoor and outdoor theme park for family and non-gamblers have been built. Also there are international shows held in the giant arena stadium. The cool weather where clouds and fog can cover this popular tourist desitnation. Note the casino is off limits for local Muslims. There are buses, taxis and self-drive to get to this destination. Also a cable car system if you do not want to drive all the way to the top. There are have accidents and so do make sure the brakes are working and exercise caution when going up the steep slopes and turns. If you have time, go to Genting Highlands at least once. It can be crowded during school and public holidays and weekends.

Getting into Genting Highlands is a breeze. You can go by bus or by taxi. Drive by all means (as a tourist) but best to park your car at the Genting Skyway (at GohTong Jaya) which is an almost halfway point up to Genting. Take the Genting Skyway for various reasons (1) the step incline from the Gohtong Jaya to Genting Highlands is a stressful drive up although it is quick (2) the view from the Skyway is cool (3) a peaceful ride up for 10-12 minutes Note: (a) On public holidays, the queue to get on the Skyway may be as long as a 45minute wait. (b) It cost RM10 for a return ticket. Do get the return ticket. Although you can still get it up there at Genting Highlands, the queue to get a ticket may be long. Leave a Comment Address: Near GohTong JayaDirections: From GohTong Jaya, clear signs will lead you to the Genting Skyway.
