Thirteen kilometers north-east of Kuala Lumpur is the National Zoo. It contains hundreds of different species of animals, birds, and reptiles. The Kuala Lumpur Zoo is set amongst a nice lake and one of the best in Asia. There is cool aquarium on the zoo grounds as well. The aquarium has an extensive collection of marine and freshwater species.

I always like zoos and Malaysia's Zoo Negara was no disappointment. All my favourites were there, plus some unexpected bonuses such as (I think this is correct) the sinister-looking Marabou Stork - made famous by Irvin Welsh's contraversial novel.

The otter's were gorgeous and kept coming to make friends with us. The zoo has afternoon shows and I believe they do elephant rides for children as well - but Jonathan said I'm just too old to get away with that!

The reptile house was cool - it had symbols for snakes that held a mild venom, another for snakes with a nastier nip, and a nice black skull for those which could kill you in 30 seconds. It also gave details of the reptiles native lands - a rather alarming number mentioned Malaysia! (although - I have to say - we didn't see a snake outside the zoo)

The country’s national zoo, Zoo Negara was officially opened to the public in 1963. It started out on a 17ha piece of land and was gradually expanded to cover a total area of 25ha. Within the grounds are more than 4,000 animals from some 400-plus species. Of these, the majority are fish and bird species while about a hundred are mammals and the remainder, reptiles.

I am not very keen about animals but I was asked to see the zoo in Kuala Lumpur. I gathered some information about from my hotel and found out that Zoo Negara is located 13km from Kuala Lumpur at Jalan Hulu Kelang. The beauty of this zoo stands out due to the presence of Aquarium, which is located next to it.
Both the Zoo and Aquarium are open daily from 9am to 6pm. Admission: RM5 (Adult), RM2 (Child).

I found out from the presence of crowd that Zoo Negara, Malaysia's National Zoo, is a very popular attraction especially amongst animal lovers and photographers and a great way to study and understand the animal kingdom. Over all it was a good experience.

Besides Taiping Zoo, this used to be one of my favorite zoos in Malaysia. Now there is also a zoo in Melaka.

There were plans to move the zoo due to the rapid urban development in Ulu Klang where this old zoo is located. The zoo conditions needs improvement and better maintenance.

Still if you want to see orangutan, gibbon, hornbill. tapir, elephant, Malayan tiger, Malayan sunbear, porcupine, crocodile and mousedeer, it worth a trip to come here.

Take a day out and go to the zoo. Even if you're not into animals, the park it's in is worth a visit, especially the little lake with its snack bars, paddle boats, and lazy atmosphere.

Photo: The Lake with the the paddle boats, a favorite week-end haunt of K.L. families.

honey has many curative and nutritional values

however it seems the risks of getting honey from their keepers deep in the jungle are rather high

and the process to extract them are rather labourious and extensive

fortunately, the kl zoo has an outlet

    specially for honey lovers

all one need is some money!!!!!

Many nice animals and go sure, this is one of the best greatest Zoo's in Asia. Most of the animals have great space to walk and live, not to compare with Zoo's in Beijing or something like that.
