This park is one of the main lungs of the city and a heaven of peace in this busy South East Asian metropolis. The park was part of the British city planning as the area reserved to the colonial elite.
The Park's attractions, apart from the lakes and gardens, include a butterfly park with an insect museum, an Orchid Garden and an excellent Bird Park, which was the only of the three that we visited.

The Lake Gardens are the 91.6 hectares of the nicest park in KL. There are several parks within the this area. The Orchid and Hibiscus Gardens is where I concentrated my visit. There is also a planetarium, a dinosaur museum, war memorials, and a casino found here. Of course there is the lake itself where two-person boats can be rented. When I went there was a pop band playing songs at the bandshell.

At the base of the Twin Towers is its shopping mall and landscaped gardens. Part of the parks include a swimming area with shallow pool, water features and sculptors of whales and dolphins. The day that we were there there was lots of mums with their kids taking a dip. The park itself is lovely with pink frangipanis and weeping willows. We spent a relaxing 1/2 hour wandering around. There are also some cafes on the outer edges of the shopping mall where you can grab a drink and enjoy the view.

I took this picture at the butterfly house. We had stayed by the pond for 15 minutes or so, watching the frogs leap from lily pad to lily pad. It was not till I got home did I see there were actually 2 frogs in my picture.

KL's butterfly park is in the Lake gardens. We took the aerotrain and walked from the museum, pass the old railway station, stopped in on the National Mosque and then walked up the hill to the Butterfly park. Entrance was about 10 ringgit and and camera, video fee on top. The park has about 120 species of butterflies numbering over 6,000. It also has a wonderfully maintained garden with water fountains and gazebos. There is a souvenir shop, and a small insect display with enormous millipedes, moths and spiders.
