Sunway Lagoon is excellent fun for both kids and adults. Go during the week if you can to avoid crowds. Note that they don't allow food or drinks to be brought in. All bags are checked.
Mums and dads who have kids old enough to let loose but not old enough to be left unsupervised, should bring a book to while the time away while the kids rampage through the place.
The Sunway Lagoon is a mix of shopping mall, resort hotel, and theme park. The shopping mall (called The Pyramid) is really nice and it has many shops, food courts, restaurants, an ice rink and cineplex cinema. The exterior of the shopping mall is really amazing because a whole pyramid and a sphinx were built in front of it. Outside, along the arcade, there are small trendy restaurants and bars to cater to the evening crowds.
I didn't try out the water theme park because it didn't look so great. However, I did visit the Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel, which I find to be OK.
Latest Update (01/2008)
Now, there is a new second Pyramid shopping complex adjacent to the original Pyramid. Apparently it is bigger and better than the first one. I do not envy the residents staying near and around the Sunway Lagoon district area. That place will be one heck of a traffic jam hell-hole every hour and everyday of the week!
I added a little bit about Sunway Lagoon. As mentioned, it is located in the heart of Bandar Sunway. I have not added the stones exhibition in Sunway Lagoon. There were many kinds of limestones which were on display. Gems, Jade, Ruby...wow, they are just mesmerizing!!!!! And yes Buddhist artifects were also displayed.
If you have a day to spend, why not spend it here at Sunway Lagoon. My bf and I spent a day at the sunway lagoon and had much fun. Sunway Lagoon is a major amusement park in Kuala Lumpur. You can have fun with water at Waters of Africa or take on the fun rides at Wild Wild West.
hmmmmm..this is sunway lagoon....my first impressions of this big place when I first visited it was like..oh wah...am I in South Africa - Sun City and as I walked around and played around, there were local impressions in this water park and theme park...No matter what, it is good, clean and cheap fun!
One of the best part of this place is that they actually do make efforts to keep things interesting by opening up new hotels such as the Pyramid Hotel...good for the budget travellers.
Great place for the kids and adults. Consist of a waterpark and a 'dry' park with a multitude of rides that will test your endurance to the limit. Also has a mini zoo( with some manginificent Bengal tigers) and a long rope bridge going across the water-park ( about 100 metres or more...not for the faint-hearted as its about 80-100 ft drop!)
Great fun day, for the family especially. You can even do a spot of surfing with the artificial waves at the waterpark. Not quite Hawaii but good fun anyway.
Costs RM39 for adults and RM26 for kids ( about £20 for a family of 4) for the water-park and theme park. You get 15% discount if you purchase online.
This is a combination between shopping mall, hotel, theme parks and so on. It is basically built on the same model as Sun City in South Africa. The shopping mall itself was quite nice and it includes a bowling ally, ice rink and cinema. And the exterior is also amazing because they have built a whole pyramid and a sphinx in front of it. We also tried out the water theme park but even though it was very big it wasn’t really that great. It only cost 25 Ringgit to enter it but there were cost involved to rent boards and rings. The lagoon is huge but there is really not that much to do even if they brag about having the largest surf pool in the world. There was not that many slides and some of them were closed and on some you needed a ring.
