Puduraya is a messy area but it is the main bus terminal. The idea is to get there and continue on to KL Sentral (which is more decent) via the Putra Light Rail Transit nearby. Avoid eating, drinking or even pissing there.

Stick with the reputable ones such as Plusliner. They serve snacks and give freebies. However seats are limited and need to be booked in advance. Web booking is available.
If you are forced to take one of the cheaper ones due to overdemand for tickets during festivals make sure you give the driver a good whack if he drives too fast or dangerously. Remember its better he gets a black eye than you lose your life.

KL Hop-On Hop-Off double decker bus was introduced since 2007. It is a bus that brings you around the city to almost all the main attractions in Kuala Lumpur. Passengers can hop on and off the bus at any of the 22 designated stops that are near to tourists attractions and major hotels. There is a guide on the bus giving you brief introductions of the places. Tickets can be bought online, on the bus, travel agents, or at major hotels. Ticket is valid for 24 hours. I think this is a convenient way for tourists who are not familiar with the confusing roads of KL. You don't have to be worried about which bus to take to your destinations. KL Hop-On Hop-Off covers all, well, almost.
Price: RM38(Adult) , RM160 (For a group of 5 persons), RM16 (Senior, Children, Disabled), Free (Children Below 5)
Operating Hour: Everyday from 8:30am to 8:30pm, buses run at 30 minutes Interval.

This row of shops opposite Puduraya Bus Terminal is an alternative if you don't feel like going into Puduraya to get your bus tickets. There are ticket agents along the road and you can get bus tickets to almost everywhere in Peninsula Malaysia, Singapore and Hatyai (Thailand). I like to buy my tickets here because it is more convenient and lee crowded than in Puduraya. But check with the ticket agent which platform or where you have to wait for the bus. And don't forget to ask them for the bus license plate number. Sometimes you don't have to go to Puduraya to board your bus. It gets a bit confusing sometimes...

PUDURAYA Bus Terminal has been serving Kuala Lumpur and its people for as long as I can remember. Puduraya is the main bus terminal in the heart of downtown KL on Jalan Pudu. Buses leave here around the clock everyday. You can pretty much get to any parts of Malaysia Peninsula and even Singapore and Hatyai (Thailand)!
Puduraya is built more than 20 years ago and it certainly exceeds its capacity. The place is crowded, stuffy, noisy, and chaotic! On the main level, there are like close to a hundred of ticket counters but they are actually agents who sell for only a few of bus companies. Therefore there are competition among these agents.
The buses are parked on the lower level of Puduraya. Travelers have to go down to the bus via each designated platforms that are clearly numbered in big orange signs. Arrive at Puduraya about 15 minutes before your departure time as you really wouldn't want to stay longer in Puduraya then you really have to. The fume coming out from the buses is really bad.
At the main level, there is a post office, ATM, a food court, Dunkin Donuts, magazine stalls and a luggage storage counter (I have more info of it at General Tips). And not to forget a hotel on the upper levels of Puduraya.
To get to Puduraya via LRT, you can get off at Plaza Rakyat station and it's about a 5 minutes walk following the covered walkway.
I heard that PLAZA RAKYAT, a project that was started and planned in the 1990's but was put on hold after the economic crisis in 1997, will resume its construction soon. Hopeful the new PLAZA RAKYAT will replace Puduraya and make bus traveling a more pleasant experience.

Now there is a convenient and economical way to travel between LCCT Terminal (Air Asia) and Kuala Lumpur. There are at least 3 bus companies providing services to KL. Travel time: about 1 hour.
Bus fare starts from RM8 depending on which bus company you are going with and where.
Starshuttle: From LCCT or KLIA to: KL Sentral, Puduraya Bus Terminal (downtown KL), Jalan Ipoh, Subang Jaya, and even to selected hotels. Bus fare starts from RM10
Aerobus: Located at the basement level of KL Sentral Station, it offers a non-stop service to LCCT (Low Cost Carrier Terminal) for RM8.00 per trip, or RM14.00 for a two-ways trip.

Hi Everyone,
We had a very bad experience with the arrogant and bad customer service with First Coach Singapore, from staff to manager to director. We feel they are unreasonable and don’t care if they lose customers with their bad attitude.
We feel that the staff in Singapore are badly trained with communication problems.
We have hardly ever encountered such bad service in this industry.
It was a great disappointment to us as we had felt that the trip they provided was good enough that we used their service regularly for many months. Nevertheless, it only takes one very bad experience to lose our pre-paid tickets to warn others not to risk a similar experience. This happened because their staff neglected to communicate vital information to us. The manager even said that they WITHHOLD this information despite the risk to customers! The management took no responsibility, defended the staff and and blamed it on us.
We lost our money but we learned from the experience and want to warn others.
Our advice? Stay away from First Coach if you want hassle free bookings and travel. There are many other coaches traveling to KL that are excellent.
We’re using Airbus next. Will keep you posted if we love their service.

Aside from Konsortium coach, I've tried TransNational Coach as well. I'd must say, this is the cheapest of them lot. REturn tickets sell at SGD$40.20 .... It is not a fancy bus. A normal aircon, 26-seater bus with enough leg space for an individual is more than enough. Journey stops at Puduraya, KL which is near to Jalan Bukit Bintang. To get the ticket, u need to call and check if there's any availability. But you cannot book through the phone as this is a first-come-first-serve-basis. You need to go to the booth itself at Lavender Street, infront of the Singapore Casket building.

To get to Kuala Lumpur by AirAsia's morning flight from Senai at 9.25 am, it is advisable to start your journey from Kota Raya II Bus Station with two to three other passengers on the same journey in a taxi, as Hendal Indah has put an end to the 7.00 am bus service to Senai.
